I love how small this is! I don't often use it these days (I hate wearing headphones with my glasses) but it's great for when I want to play a game or listen to an audiobook without disturbing anyone. The quality seems fantastic on mine and I have yet to see any of the wear issues that others have reported, but I also haven't had to use it in months.
Loved the sound these gave till I ended up trying to pull my headphone cable through the seat belt and snapped the adapter cable. Just a heads up for anyone looking to buy.
Great sound, very nice to have a balanced mobile DAC, but unfortunately not robust enough for even light usage.
Was able wear my headphones to the store about 3 times before they stopped working for about 90 minutes of usage. The DAC remained in my pocket so wire strain would have been on the headphone wire, but apparently still the strain relief was insufficient.
Clean sounding but keep an eye on the volume where you plug it.
I was trying out on my DAP (which didn't need it but thought I'd try out anyway) and the volume shot up to 100% and keeps going back to it every once in a while. As a desktop or laptop sound solution, this is pretty great though. Pairs very well with the 6xx
And it didn't fall short. Signal seems cleaner and louder, and from what I gather that's what it should seem like.
I only have the NuPrime Hi mDAC Signature from this site to compare, which is a single-ended DAC. As far as apples to apples though, I LOVE the cord situation with the TC44B. No pesky adapters...which actually brings me to a question, since I can't seem to find this functionality (Android btw, so USB-C): a USB-C male-to-male, very short cable that will "work." By work it seems to mean that it needs to support USB OTG like the adapters somehow provide.
I have a great short cable it just doesn't work.
But yea 5 stars to the TC44B for being a very pleasant first experience with a balanced source on headphones, and for being soooo gorgeous.
achavezYou bought this to use with a 3.5mm cable even though it says "balanced"? If that is the case, it seems like you're just reviewing your own mistake instead of how good the product is.
I use the DAC only with my Samsung s21. It is a great little DAC that gets the job done. The sound is great for the price and with IEMs it plays loud enough. It does ot drive the Fcal Stellia particularly well, but that was never my goal, but for listening to IEMs while walking the dog, or some work in the garden, they get the job done.
