These Choice Pads are rapidly becoming our best sellers, and we’ve been having great feedback on them. ReneVillelaI finally got to use these pads. I ordered them the first time they were around. They arrived here in Japan in January 2nd but I only use the Sony MDR 1000x when I travel. Now I’m on a train on the way to Tokyo and I’m really happy with them. They are more comfortable than the original pads and the insolation is better too. Perfect fit on the 1st gen.

The name of the drop says it's for both XM2's and XM3's, but in the description it says "Please note these pads are not compatible with Sony's WH-1000XM3."
Which one is it, are they compatible with XM3's or not?

Owner of the XM3 here... wondering if the modest increase in size still allows the use of the stock case the headphone comes in?

I'm requesting a drop, a price drop.
I have a pair of fostex/ dekoni blues and I think they are excellent but I can't stomach the bonkers prices being asked for simple pad sets. It's just foam and fake leather,I know they are well designed but they're is no rational justification for such step prices. The drop price should be the MSRP

Got the suede pads for my WH-1000XM3 a few weeks ago. They are so much more comfortable than the original pads. Unfortunately, you do give up some ANC performance in exchange for comfort. But wow, these are like tiny little pillows for your ears. I can wear my XM3 all day without discomfort, whereas with the original pads I could only go a few hours without them bothering me. For me, the purchase is totally worth it. I might buy the choice leather pads the next time there's a drop and try them out.

There are many alternatives for far less money. At this price I would expect REAL leather, not plastic, vegan, fake leather as noted in the description.

I got my suede XM3 pads in the mail last week and they are exactly what I wanted. The stock pads are nice and soft but, as is widely known, make your head sweaty. These suede pads give more room for your ears and don't make you sweat and are very comfy overall.

rhenomI appreciate the review! I have the same exact problem. XM3 pads make my ears sweat and which is why I don't wear them outside! The suede option was what I was eyeing. Will update/edit once I get these.
Got these yesterday and they were so freaking great I had to update with my review. 4.5/5 would totally buy again.
Pros
- Very soft, breathable suede which minimizes the problem the stock pads have - VERY HOT AND SWEATY EARS!
- No noticeable reduction in noise cancelling! I'm no audiophile so make of that what you will but the headphones sound just as great with these pads on as with the stock pads.
- Boy, are these kinda difficult to get on just right. I had a bit of difficulty getting one of the pads to snap in just right. When I would pull on the top to confirm security, the pad would pop out pretty easy. Thankfully got it in all the way though!

just received my leather pads. comfort is great, but... the noise cancellation is MUCH worse than stock pads. (weren't these supposed to be better?) i ran the optimizer in the sony app, that did not help at all. i also double checked that i snapped everything into place, fairly certain i did.
did i get a defective pair? please help!!

i was finally able to test them (choice leather, XM2) on a road trip, and i'm pretty content with them now. :) riding on the interstate, switching ANC from off to on definitely makes a noticeable difference. road noise is pretty well muted, and the passive isolation (combined with my music) did a decent job of masking conversation sounds. i'm not able to A-B compare to the stock pads, but as far as noise cancelation goes, to my ears they're pretty close.
the low-level "hiss" of the active noise cancelation is a little louder than stock, presumably due to having more space around the ear like DrunkSaru mentioned, but it's not bad at all. once music is playing, i don't think i can even notice it.
comfort level is much improved, especially for my left ear which has a cartilage piercing. (stock pads would sometimes make it pretty painful after an hour or so; the dekoni's don't even touch it, which is fantastic.)
ANC does still seem slightly worse at my office and at home for unknown reasons, but they work so well in the car (my main use case for ANC) that i can't complain. (my "MUCH worse" comment in my original post was in reference to previous testing at the house and office. not sure if the pads have a break-in period, or if it was just psychosomatic, but testing in the car convinced me that ANC still works great.)
i haven't had the chance to try them on a flight yet, but i assume they'll work as well as they do in the car.
oh, and a note on installation: make absolutely sure all the tabs are lined up perfectly, and double check that they're clicked into place afterwards. it's *really* easy to assume they're fastened properly when they aren't. the installation video was helpful, but the process was not quite as idiot-proof as i, an idiot, was hoping. :p it's fine if you're careful though.
