We teamed up with Glycine to put our own twist on one of the company’s best sellers, the Combat Sub. You won’t find this exclusive version anywhere else.
Is this really shipping on the 6th January? Or is this another wait a year type watch? Also, anyone bought this in the UK, how much did you pay as custom? Thanks
Had to put my money where my mouth is!!! I said under $300 usd. would be good and Drop did this fantastic price. I was holding out for a GMT style, the sub combat is $629 usd. but at this price couldn't pass up this standard soda version. Thanks for my belated Xmas present Drop.
The applied hour markers are a big step up from the typical Combat Sub and I would snap one of these up in a heartbeat but for a couple of missteps.
The bezel makes no sense. If you're going to make it 50/50 Red/Blue, number it 1-12 so it can serve a dual time function. If it's going to be numbered for minutes, make the first 20 red and it's a dive timer.
The handset is disappointing. The baton hands on a typical sub look so much better. These just come off as a cheap imitation of a Rolex. If you really wanted to set it apart, throw a set of sword hands in there and I'd beg you to take my money.
They do have a GMT soda style for sale at present ,red and blue bezel; but a little different on price....$629 usd. that's why I ordered this one. At $275 if it is up to the standard of my other two Sub Combats then I am happy.
Love the colour combination; I quite like the muted colour on the indices; but that is purely a personal point of view. I can see why many "diver watch" fans may not like it. This would look great as a GMT with that Rolex style bezel. But the quality that I can see from the pics is more aligned to a $300 usd. price tag ,for a Drop/Glycine "Limited Edition" collaboration. I do like the style of the bracelet clasp .As some have said there are better made and looking Combat Subs available cheaper, and some of them have been on Drop.
Sub combat models can start at around $340 usd. but you have to like that model. The Seiko Alpinist is not a bad price though, and a very good watch. I have both and would probably buy the Seiko at that asking price if I hadn't bought one a few months ago.
As a person who owns several Glycine watches, I’m not impressed with this collaboration. A watch brand with the history of Glycine doesn’t need to add a retailer such as “drop” to sell watches. Keep it simple, offer a quality product and the watch sells itself. Keep it simple!!
