It's excellent. The SDAC isn't really balanced because the chip it has isn't capable, idk how much that matters but it bothered me so I just went with the M300 MKII instead that is truly balanced and has a better dac on top of that. I really like it, it sounds great and it was a worthy upgrade from my Modi 3.

Hello, I just bought the Sennheiser HD 6XX and I already have a SHIIT Magni 3 so I was looking for a DAC. I was going to buy the MODI 3 but it's out of stock everywhere in EU. It's difficult to research something in this thread, so is it possible to know how this DAC compares to the MODI 3? It cost 50$ dollars more. Also I think I will need a specific cable to link the dac to the Magni 3. I'm not an expert. Could you guys help me ?

The biggest thing is that this DAC is really meant for a balanced setup, so you're better served buying some of the DACs that Michael-Q mentioned, since they are single-ended, as well as better measured.

Newbie here. I might use headphones later but for now looking for a DAC to compliment my stereo towers. Will this feed into a bigger 100W amp.

Newbie here, I'm pairing this with the Drop+Cavalli Liquid Carbon X amp and plan on using 2 male-to-female xlr cables to connect the two. From the amp I'll be using the 4-pin xlr output to a pair of LCD2Cs (audeze, dual 4-pin mini xlr). For those experienced is there anything I ought to do differently here (or anything potentially destructive)? I'm hoping this results in a correctly balanced system - please correct me if I'm wrong!

Has anyone tried the "Grace SDAC Balanced" with SPDIF/ Coax or Toslink input, balanced output? If yes, what is your opinion?

I'm using a THX 789 with an Aune X1s DAC (SE only, 32 bit/384k)). Using this balanced Grace DAC will it got any better or it may be a unmeasurable difference? My headphones are a HD6XX and a HE-4XX.

I bought this originally for my headphone and now considering to add a powered speaker (Audioengine HD6) Would anyone recommend getting a separate Grace Design SDAC with RCA output (with a seemingly inferior DAC chip) or to utilize existing 3.5mm stereo line output jack (2.15VRMS) on this balanced SDAC? Does the connector (3.5mm vs RCA) makes much of difference for desktop bookshelf speakers? There seems no switch to select between balanced output and 3.5 stereo line output, so I'm not sure how this is going to work out.

I use both the balanced and SE outputs of the SDAC Balanced. Balanced output connected to HPA, and 3.5 stereo line output connected to powered speakers. Just power up the component you want to listen to.

Anybody know if this has the same feet and momentary power button as the 789?

Same feet but smaller. There is no power button and the button which looks the same is not momentary it is like the 789 input switch.

Thanks for the reply. The input switch felt identical to the power button to me...but it might have been due to the fact it was severely out of whack.

It seems like quite a few folks aren’t a big fan of the drop logo addition. Does anyone know if this (or similar drop branded electronics) are just silkscreened and if the logo might come off with a bit of acetone, goo gone, etc?
