Okay, I have never been so very confused, conflicted, and baffled by a pair of IEMs, like I am about these. After listening carefully for a few weeks, I thought I had my mind made up, but my listening sessions still just seem to have too much variability. Sometimes, they sound brilliant (genre specific though), but there are other times when I feel the need to rip them out of my ears, because they annoy me so much. Sometimes they just sound like I’m listening through a hollow box, and am missing huge parts of the music. That 4.2KHz peak is still so very shouty and strident at times, even with the most damped nozzles. It’s crazy that after this much time, I still can’t form a definite opinion to post a review! I can’t even say for sure if the perceived variability in sound that I hear is actual variability, perhaps based on the build and seal. Frustrating....

joeftanHave you tried other tips ? I unfortunately couldn't take advantage of the included Spiral Dot + tips; as they kept doing a slow crawl out of my left ear.

joeftanTry modding the empty nozzle yourself. Use the thin alcohol swabs. Cut strips 6mm wide and maybe 17mm long. Roll around a large sewing needle to get the round shape and drop in. Less damped nozzle has equivalent of 13mm and more damped 15mm I believe. Anyway, the empty nozzle is ripe for the modding. You could also try micropore tape over the most damped nozzle, along with narrower bore tips like Sony hybrids or Final E tips.

joeftanKeep an eye on the discussion here. I received a pair of defective ear pieces, and have to send them back. As you said, huge parts of the music (lower frequencies) are missing. But this is not the intended tuning, that is a defect in my units.

LGCiI have hade a similar issue with the Spiral Dot tips, but got improved fit with a bigger tip, sitting more in the concha than the ear canal itself. Keeping tip and ear dry also helped.

joeftanI posted my experiences and issues with the FDX1 here: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/drop-jvc-ha-fdx1-dual-carbon-iem-available-in-the-us.912737/page-33#post-15421198 The way you describe your's you may have a similar issue. I have the FD02 as well, and without mod it is a little intense, modded they are beautiful and really smooth. The FDX1 should not be shouty.
