Love it. Not surprising since I love hefty knives, recurved blades, and scales made from exotic material; and if you tell me it's a pain to keep in mint condition, I'll love the scales even more. I also love titanium frame locks, etc., &c., but who doesn't? But (retailer formerly known as Mass)Drop, what the hell is going on with the photos? More to the point: why aren't there more photos of much higher quality, showing all kinds of angles? You're selling a $300 knife, which has as a major feature and selling point a colorful material that freakin' changes color, and all we get of most models is a single, boring, side-on shot of one side that's obscured by the clip?! I swear to gods, if you guys were selling a beachside Malibu mansion with a whitewater view you'd manage to make it look like a San Bernardino bungalow; if you were doing a Playboy shoot the pics of a preternaturally beautiful model would end up looking like a photographer at a county jail had decided to snap some topless mugshots of a homeless woman. Speaking of photographie boudoir, pics of a new, tricked out knife like this should be copious and sensual. They should give the viewer/potential buyer/knife addict that "ohhh YEAH" sort of feeling, like the knife is the coolest, sexiest knife they've ever seen, and the must.have.it. No matter cost, and don't even bother talking about any shortcomings or potential problems with the thing, the properly enticed knife lover will look right past those like an adolescent with his first girlfriend. Knives are a fundamentally practical product, but they're also beautiful, potentially deadly, and about as old as humanity itself. That's the sort of product that you can and should sell by appealing to the primal, emotional part of the brain. Moreover, with all the recent advancements in materials and technology--and corresponding price increases--some knives have reclaimed their old position as status symbols, at least among the niche of people who love them. But for any product, all of its connotative meanings, psychological nuances, and position as a fundamental piece of one's conciously constructed identity can only be tapped into by selling the product in such a manner as to appeal to those aforementioned primal, emotional parts of the brain. And if youre selling the product to humans, the best way to access all brain parts primal and emotional is through VISUALS. The more the better, the more diverse and dynamic the better, so long as they maintain a coherent tone. Oh sure, we all pretend to buy knives based on logical, objective factors, and there is some truth to that. But the point of sale for a product with so many connections to the ego like knives is not reached through appeals to logos but to pathos; you should be helping me to imagine how awesome it will be to hold that knife in my hand whilst standing before an almighty pile of nasty yet sturdy boxes. There is, perhaps, a murmur of doubt from the gathered bystanders, who are but simple folk and do not possess the powerful knife that I do, so their doubt is understandable, if misguided; the cardboard will not stand even a moment against my blade--you know, the one I see in this gloriously colorful, high-res pic right here, which makes it easy to fantasize about. In short, my friends of (M)Drop, you don't have nearly enough pics, and the ones you have aren't nearly good enough. And that means you're leaving money on the table, probably a lot of it, considering my humble but specific knowledge of humans, knife afficianados, compulsive behavior, and selling things. And if the problem is some pencil-pushing, mid-mgr accountant type, who says, "we don't have the budget to allocate additional resources for more pictures right now, but let's revisit the issue after the fiscal year ends," you have my blessing--no, my imperative!--to dangle him from the office rooftop until his eyes are opened to the bigger picture.

HatuletohI have to go to fatcarbon’s instagram page to see what the CF look like in better lighting and higher resolution. Those pics don’t do them justice at all!

Seeing the new, subtle “D” logo on the pivot hardware for these recently announced collaborations makes me so happy. Gone are the days of MASSDROP on the blade!

I was so excited to see this change to the knives. I'm just guessing of course but is this the reson you "dropped" Mass from your name? Just curious.

Jonas, the D logo on the pivot is not only fulfilling your marketing needs while being subtle, it is actually attractive in itself and (on this knife) adds to the looks of the knife itself! It is a nice complement to the angles of the intersection of scale and faux bolster. How often do you see a logo or icon that adds to the composition…? Hmmm…try 'hardly ever'!

Thanks once again for making it 0% left hand friendly, you guys have really helped me save money this year with all these drops not even having clip rotation options which is all I want.

Screw holes for putting the clip on the other scale makes not a different knife.

jhonisNo, but a left handed version is. I didn't realize that this thread was about clip holes, I thought it was one of the many other posts asking for a lefty version.
Thank you all for checking out my first Drop project! This has been in the works for some time now. Seeing it finally come to fruition is truly exciting! ...and being Canadian, having it launch on July 1st (Canada Day) makes it that much more special to me.  The Raine model is named after my son “Augustus Raine” and was designed with “the perfect EDC” in mind. I wanted the knife to be big enough to take on large tasks but small enough to be carried comfortably.  I combined curves, finger choils, and chamfers to allow for maximum grip and comfort when using the knife. The blade design has a combination of hollow grinds, false edges, belly, and recurve that allow it to cut and pierce with ease. It also has a checkered thumb ramp and flipper tab for added grip when using / opening the knife. This knife is a bolster lock. It has a heavy duty lock bar like a frame lock style knife along with the look and feel of bolsters and scales similar to that of a liner lock knife. The best of both worlds. The titanium frame and Fat Carbon scales not only allow for it to be extremely lightweight and strong it also gives the knife a very unique and stylish look. One of the most important features of the Raine is that it has hardened lock face inserts. This means maximum wear resistance on the lock face and ensures an extra long life for the knife. It also prevents the dreaded “lock stick” (when lock bars jam and are difficult to release). I was very excited to hear that Reate would be manufacturing the Raine for the Drop project. I have worked with them on two other knife projects as well, the Crossroads and the Augustus.  I have been an admirer of their work for some time. Their fit and finish, tolerances, attention to detail, and quality control are second to none.  Also, I would like to thank Jonas and the entire Drop team for all their hard work in producing a quality product that I hope you will all enjoy as much as I do! Thank you

Kirby LambertHi there! I almost bought the last drop from Eric Ochs because it was way too pretty with the Purple MokuTi... I'm a fellow Canadian and the fact that Flippers are now "Illegal" in Canada (yet can be bought at any Major Canadian Online Knife Store, Strangely enough!) and the fact that if it was caught at the Canadian Border Services and RTS "Returned to Sender", they wouldn't be able to provide a refund... Do you think you could do that? For your Canadian fans, to be able to buy such a (pricey) beauty without worrying about getting it Confiscated or Sent Back? (@Drop @JonasHeineman) P.S: Any possibility of an Arctic Storm with a Satin Polished Blade instead? Or would that ruin the look? Any thing coming up that might be similar but with some MokuTi accents, Carbon Fiber maybe? And with one of the following steels I love that you use RWL34, my favorite steel (if only for the balance between Toughness, Corrosion Resistance and Edge Retention. But the Fineness of the Alloy Grain and the Mirror Polish it achieves is kind of a Turn On hehe) It's no surprise why I also love M390, M4 and CPM-S Series S35VN and better. Elmax is cool too! (I'm sure there's other Awesome Steels out there but with the newest Super Steels, they do perform great but some of them must be a real B*tch to Sharpen and Create I imagine Hehe). Basically I'm looking for the Statement piece in my (upcoming/in-progress) Collection, but also a knife I can Carry, Use without worry of it breaking and at this price, I might as well go all out and have it somewhat Customized, even though it's a "Production" Knife, so that I have something beautiful to look at...Hell, might as well add some MokuTi, CF or CF Composite, maybe Glow In The Dark CF, or other flashy materials. And an incrusted Beautiful Opal would seal the deal... I'm guessing you are now in the U.S. or do you still do your creation from Canada? (Because, then, maybe we could work out a Custom for a good price? That'd be even better to have a Lambert/Reate marked version instead of the Drop logo one...No offence @Drop...It's just nicer and more collectable... Thanks a bunch, Your Canadian Admirer, Frederic P. (Feel free to contact me by PM and/or answer me here, Thanks!)

Kirby LambertLike the member Potvin.F, I am also in Canada. I am also an admirer of your work. I have similar concerns about siezure at the border. I have had product gone missing in the cross-border mails, including a prototype of Reese Weiland's and a one of twenty by Jake Hoback. I have been mostly just appreciating and occasionally using my knives—always looking for the perfect knives for me for different tasks ('missions')! Of late, I have been modifying and refinishing blades, as well—adding a very satisfying new level to my hobby. Would you mind if I contacted you with a few questions, as well as a commission? At any rate, some things are better addressed in more private correspondence or conversation. Thank you ever so much in advance for your time and contact info! And congratulations on your new collab' here! It has this kind of spare, contemplative beauty—which I feel is the best of (Mass)Drop's efforts to-date to bring us a timeless classic-in-the-making. As another community member (reswright) wrote, "tip of the hat"…

BigBuckNutzAgreed on this being very impressive, arguably the most impressive Drop knife to date, and a relative bargain at the pre-order price. The purple on both the titanium and Fatcarbon really looks great in person, ergos are great, the finishing work, the overall feel is just extremely high quality.

BigBuckNutzTerrific job on the pics.
...... sigh Yet another non-lefty release. Welp, it's just another reason to keep investing in customs. I've spent over $1400 on custom knives this year. Why? It's the only way I can get a quality left handed knife.

How is the Dogtooth a lefty specific model? I can't find a movable clip OR a lefty lock on that one. (I don't care about the Gavko thresher because it's a horrible looking knife in my opinion.) Edit: Nevermind, found the lefty versions.

NorthernSouthpawDrop knives and losing out on dozens of potential left handed customers. Name a more iconic duo.
Even with an unrefined eye like mine I can tell this is a nice knife. Anyone care to “refine” my eyes and tell me what’s the main drives are for you to buy this knife? Don’t get me wrong, I’m a watch guy so I understand the idea of having quality items; I just want to know the minute differences between this and my Buck 110 (besides weight and blade/housing materials). I’m interested in getting into the blade community more so if anyone could give a helping hand it would be more than appreciated! Thank you.

Anyway i strongly encourage you to do some research to verify what we said. If you are new to this hobby it would be fun to discover the different brands and what people say about them. Like watches this is a highly competitive industry with many substitutes, and you definitely have options based on your personal. Definitely spend some time to watch some youtube reviews and see what people say about reate knives in general, specifically around their build quality and what they offer for the price compared to their competitors. I stand by what i said about reate being one of the best if not the best of all production companies. While this is my opinion like the other person said, you’ll find that many people share the same opinion. Don’t trust, always verify :-)

Jack-in-the-BoxI have to go with you on this one and any other knife made to appeal to dilettantes. Somewhat like you, I used to be a watch guy of sorts. Then moved toward knives but not the tactical or camper titled knives of this sort which are really just rapidly deploying self defense weapons. I went more toward stuff like collectible Case knives. Bur over the past year or so, I did take an interest in knives such as these. And, sure, I own a half dozen of them. But here's what I discovered along the way. For a fraction, even a small fraction, of the price of a Kirby Lambert, you buy any number of Two Sun knives as a for instance example. Do they come with all the bells and whistles and pedantic slang which comes with a high end knife? Hardly. But they're distinctly well made of solid construction and materials, operate or deploy flawlessly as flippers, sharp as anyone would ever need, handsome in appearance and priced to where a small selection of them doesn't require a second mortgage. Now I'm sure what I've said will inflame any number collectors who just must have this Rolex priced knife. But will it deploy and faster than any of the knives I use? Doubt it. Will it get the job done any better? Really doubt it. Oh, and there's someone on eBay selling a model of this brand for $99.00. Don't plan on buying that one either.

I just got the shipping notice, but my excitement is definitely tempered by my past bad experiences with direct-from-China-in-a-plastic-bag shipping. And I'm still wondering if I should've gone with the red or green models instead of the purple....
Our international warehouse is closed by order of the government due to the Coronovirus outbreak. Rest assured that as soon as the green light is given to resume operations we will get your order shipped out.

My understanding is that ISC is one of the big post offices where international shipments go, separate from customs. I think it ends up there after the customs detour (if it gets chosen for customs). It's always possible it went somewhere without being scanned, of course. In any case I got it today and thankfully it had not been "inspected" (ripped to pieces). Predictably, the packaging looked like a fat guy sat on it, but that's just part of the Drop experience.
