This is a product that satisfies my inner technologist and designer. Almost everything about this product is well thought out and well appointed.
Let me get a couple of minor quibbles out of the way first.
Would have liked some external access to power to enable a higher power mode of sorts. Purely for music though.
USB C?
The internal DAC only goes to 24 bit/96 kHz. A higher bit rate would been nicer.
Again, my perspective is purely from a music perspective. For its intended purpose as a gaming amp, I'm sure this is perfectly fine.
A beautiful device with a large rotary volume wheel and a touch screen for controls, what more could you ask for? If you don't have low efficiency / high impedance headphones, this might be all the desktop amp you need!
I wanted to like this a lot since I’m a fan of the brand but only the output audio quality is good. This can emulate surround audio, provide sidetone and switch from headphone to speaker audio. The mic quality is bad, just keep that in mind.
So, using this in windows is outstanding. The ability to save presets is great and the virtual surround works outstanding on my PC38X. My only complaint isn't really the fault of the product. In Linux the volume control via the GSX is wonky to the point of being unusable.
I wanted something that would give me on the fly control and this delivered. Now I can make quick adjustments to game volume, mic monitoring, mic gain and a host of audio enhancements too.
I've been using the audio port from my motherboard with Sennheiser 598s for a while and saw this on sale and decided to full send it and it's been a night and day difference. I just wish that there were more color options because red is completely opposite from my battlestation's theme, but nonetheless a very great product!
Seriously next level sound experience for gaming. Gaming headsets that I have owned with a 7.1 dongle or software solution for simulated surround sound pale in comparison. The only gripe I have is the touch screen is a little too sensitive and occasionally you can unintentionally change your settings but that is no reason not to purchase this product.
My reasoning for this choice was that I wanted reduce the number of things to plug in when swapping between my personal and work laptop, getting Mouse, Keyboard and Headphones all on one USB cord seemed like the perfect solution; since this brand matched my EPOS Game 1 Headset, even better. The ease of install and dramatic improvement in sound quality over using the headphone jack on the computer are welcome bonuses, and the audio improvement is astounding.
