You may be right there, gauging the response from the community, personally I think next to the items price it is the most important information, clicking on the commit button is not a great way to find out.
Just note though, I did go ahead and order through Amazon and can add that this is quite good value (shipping aside) bought as a standalone unit to pair with my Fiio X3ii which has 120 gb of mainly flac files ripped from cd's it is a very clean Amp and enough power for most headphoones, K712 pro and K7XX on med gain med volume, K812 pro, 400S and X2's on low gain med volume, HD600's and HD6XX on hi gain one third ish volume, quite impressed with the performance.
AyohellI don't think they're testing our response as much as they're probably testing how many clicks they get to buy something with/without the shipping displayed as well as how many of those people click through to actually join the drop after seeing the total with/without having seen the shipping beforehand. Nobody's going to come out and say "I love the shipping not displaying" but if it results in more purchases then it's better for them (as much as we hate it).
@massdrop BTW THIS IS NOT A DAC. Its an amp designed for fiio DAP, it only works as a dac if you get the correct fiio daps, even then its the dap that acts as a dac. There is no DAC here.
givemeyourshoesI just bought one of these from Jet.com using the 15% off your first three orders coupon to make it like $92 free shipping (not two day, but way better than waiting a month)
I am trying to play a ipod hooked to a bose speaker system and to listen to the music by headphones, it doesn't come out of the speaker, is there a way to use this to run the earphones while still hearing the speaker?
Just buy this from Amazon for $10 more and have it in your hands by the end of the day instead of having to wait over a month to get it. Really disappointed in the "deals" here lately...
I am in the US and I don't see any shipping costs right now. This started happening a week or so ago, no idea why. Maybe it is as cloverunderling said, that they have hidden the shipping costs.
I'm not an expert, but yes there is a small difference. Lossless music will be clearer, more crisp and detailed but if you're not a audiofile, you won't really tell the difference that much. But of course, not only the supported formats is important. An audio player, compared to a phone, is dedicated to music so the components inside will provide a better sound quality and less distortion. Some of them has a normal 3.5 audio jack with an aditionnal balanced port and/or a line/coax out. Some also provide the option to be used as USB Dac for your computer for example, which would output better audio than what your computers's sound card would offer.
It is definitely powerful (drives k7xx with ease I use it under 9 o'clock most of the time). Fairly clear as well, I am using the stock tube so you might get a warmer sound with a different one. Gets extremely hot in the summer (30 Celsius + in Israel) but in the winter (under 15 Celsius) its only warm (Didn't try touching the tube I assume it get even hotter).
To conclude it is a really nice first amp for me pretty satisfied ! wanted the k5 since it a solid state and I would be able to stack it on top of the SMSL sanskrit.
:)
