The second generation of FiiO’s popular X1 digital audio player is here. Just as portable as its predecessor, the X1 II is “a distinct improvement over the first X1 in terms of sound,” according to reviewers from Headfonics. This improvement is due in large part to an onboard PCM5242 DAC, which has a higher signal-to-noise ratio than the PCM5142 DAC on the first X1. The CM5242 also supports full-differential line output to achieve a balanced line output. Other new features on the X1 II include a more sensitive, durable, and ergonomic touch wheel, as well as Bluetooth 4.1 with two-way transmission.
