I call utter bullshit on the pants you're wearing giving you "a better time". What will give you a better time is actually if you stop caring about the hyper-expensive, trendy crap you're wearing and focus on your environment and the people you're with instead. This isn't rocket science.
Lighter load? What, are these for girls or something? If you really need to lighten your load so much that pants are an issue, just hike in shorts or naked. Duh.
Made out of some kind of trademarked material that's probably utter crap.
Yea, I think I'll pass. I'll be watching for any suckers I see wearing these in the bush, though. I suspect that they'll be dying for an opportunity to demonstrate how effective the knee pads are.

Don't be butthurt. If you were a strong and well-endowed man you wouldn't need to wear pants.

41 - 42 waist is the largest size, really!? So big guys are SOL. What a joke.

I see eliteism is alive and well. If a person doesn't fit your standards then they "generally" shouldn't have an "outdoor/active lifestyle." You might take look at professional football (US) and rugby players. The joke part was over the top and I retract it.

Not at all. I fully understand how a market works. I just don't like it. And I also know I just need to deal with it.

These are such good pants. I have two pairs and use them almost all the time. Wouldn't recommend them for hiking though, but they're good for outdoors work and general use.

I can't understand why... I own one pair ofthese already. Had them for a year now- best pair of pants I ever owned! Sure, they aren't perfect in warm weather, but when the temmperature is about 15 celcius and below, they are perfect. Especially in woodland environments, such as for bushcraft.

edit: I just want to make it clear for future readers, these are among my favorite pants ever. I wear these almost all the time, and even though I have two (among a few other fjallraven pants) I'm tempted to get at least one more. But it's important to be realistic about what they are and what they are not. These are great work pants, and great everyday pants for those who live complicated, active non-urban lives. ---
Depends on what kind of hiking obviously, but there are just so much better options out there. The fabric and design here is from the 60's or something. They're not very breathable, pretty heavy, not stretchy at all, and not waterproof at all (even with waxing, I've tried, quite a bit). So they're basically well cut, durable jeans with nice pockets. They just don't stand out from the competition, like, almost any other hiking pant available. But like kiwipie says, they're decent for bushcraft style hikes, but not really if you're going out on a hike to walk up a mountain or something. I'd take most other pants that I have other these for that, but then most other days I would (and do) wear these.
They get wet as soon as it rains. Gore-tex and other wpb fabrics are just so good. And for high exertion activities you can get such good pants, don't torture yourself wearing jeans like these.
Fjallraven makes much better hiking pants too, like the Keb, or others newer ones that mix soft-shell fabric with the G1000. Softshell were you want them to breathe and g1000 where you want durability (although many softshell fabrics are plenty durable), and the zippers on the Keb pants are amazing.

Thought I'd drop by with an opinion.
I have a pair of the Vidda Pro and a pair of the Keb Trousers, both in the same size. I reach for the Keb every time. Here's why:
* I have a 32" waist, but I have a relatively big butt and I… wear pretty big boxer shorts in the front, if you know what I mean. The Vidda Pro in my size are totally fine when standing, and are lethal when sitting: there's just not enough fabric in the seat and crotch. The next size up are fine when sitting, but they fall off when standing because the waist is so big. The Keb in my size are great: the large areas of stretchy softshell make them dramatically more comfortable. * The Keb trousers keep the Vidda Pro's excellent ankle closures, and add nice vent zippers on both calves and thighs. * The left thigh pocket on the Keb is zippered, and the belt loop has an additional keeper loop.
The only advantages of the Vidda Pro are:
* The additional pockets. I do miss these a little when I wear the Keb, but neither have big bellows pockets, so I rate both as a little bit of a fail here. If you fill the Vidda Pro's pockets with anything more than a map and a billfold you'll be very uncomfortable, because they just don't have the volume: you'll feel every hard edge and protrusion as your possessions intrude into the space your legs would like to occupy, and if you do so much as jam a pair of gloves in your pocket you won't be able to sit down. * Price. Particularly on Massdrop, the Vidda Pro pants are cheaper. * Durability. The Keb softshell areas aren't as durable as G-1000, so if you're really bushwacking, they might show wear more readily.

Definitely hopping in on this drop, but unsure of what size to order! I usually wear a 33/34 with khaki's and jeans. My waist measure's at 33 and my hips measure at 34. I THINK I should be getting a size 50. Any assistance?

mabramoI wear a 34-35 in almost all branded pants(slacks, jeans, ect.) I also own a pair of Fjallraven Abisko pants they are a size 50 and they fit perfectly, I have noticed they run a tad big and they are generously long. I would be confident ordering a EU50 size in these pants without hesitation.

So... at the risk of sounding like a complete dunce... what are the inseam measurements for these? I'm examining the size chart here. Is that what the "US Size" number represents? Thanks!!

I bought a pair of these last year and love them.
I only had one problem: How do you wash them? Anyone know? Fjallraven's site is like trying to decode a sphinx.

chuckgas far as i know, just like normal. i think there are even printed instructions inside the pants, but i might be thinking of the keb trousers. from memory you treat them like any other pants, but if you want the greenland wax coating to last longer then they advise to wash in colder water, as opposed to warmer water.

For anybody else who found the sizing chart here unhelpful, I think I found a chart that provides actual measurements (or at least close estimates) of the Vidda Pro on Fjallraven Canada's site. I've read reviews where some say size up, others say size down, while others say they are true to size, I gave up trying to figure it out until I found this.
