If I see anyone with this umbrella who doesn't know how to furl it properly, I will give you a swift smack over the head with mine.

What wind-speed are these umbrellas rated for?

BgarciaPer their website, Fox Umbrellas are designed for normal weather conditions, not very strong winds or lightning storms. They also note that any wind damage does not constitute a faulty frame and would not be covered under their warranty.

Got an email saying an item I requested was available, and it linked to this? I definitely never requested this item be made available on MD.

Any chance of the aforementioned solid stick drop?

SilchasTotally! I'm talking with Fox about that right now. If you have any preferences, make a poll or discussion thread and link to it here - they have a really deep catalog with tons of woods and designs, so happy to collect some input via polls or Talk (so that we dont clutter this conversation).

These are nice umbrellas, but if you want "classy," I'm afraid you'll have to go with Brigg. Not just the handle, but the entire stick, is one piece of wood. Very expensive, sadly (like $500).

BogartFox offers one piece solid wood umbrellas too at $400+, as well as bespoke offerings...to say tube umbrellas or Fox as a brand cannot be "classy" is nonsense.

ChairmanWMy comment was meant to be directed to the brand, but to this model. If you are looking to convey "class" with your umbrella, I don't think a tube umbrella will do it.

I'm told it will be an El Nino year, so I'm very excited to bring Fox Umbrellas to Massdrop just in time!
If you've never owned a nice umbrella, you owe it to yourself to try one. There's something about walking down the street with a beautifully crafted wood handle in your hand that just feels wonderful. Fox is one of the best umbrella makers in the world, and I'm very happy to have their tube umbrellas here for preorder.
If you want to see better pics of the maple handles, you can check out the link below (this model is the GT-2). And while these are the only handles available in this drop, there's potential to add more options in future drops.

According to Fox's website - http://www.foxumbrellas.com/index.php/faqs/manufactures-warranty - there is no warranty for products sold outside of the UK.
Is there a special warranty being arranged for this sale?

I bought a British made umbrella from L.L. Bean almost 30 years ago. Paid over $50 which is about equivalent to the asking price for this Fox umbrella. I still use it and it has held up unbelievably well even though I have not been gentle with it. It was worth every penny. Maybe it needs a friend.
