Product Description
While its overall aesthetic and layout may suggest it's built for a flight mission, the Glycine Combat Chronograph is equally suited for a night on the town. With a polished stainless steel case, sapphire crystal, and display caseback showing the GL 750 25-jewel movement, it certainly looks the part, yet it's tough enough to handle strenuous wear Read More
Received mine today. Even better than I anticipated. I subbed out the green nylon band for a 22mm brown leather with contrast stitch and a stainless steel deployant clasp. The watch itself is substantial, thick, and rises high off the wrist--higher than I am used to. Not sure how well it will fit under the cuff of a long-sleeve dress shirt, but I don't plan to wear this for business dress. What is most beautiful about it to me is the color and treatment of the gray face. Light reflects off that paint and the various subdials in such a way that the color has different inflections around the dial. I have also ordered a generic silicone rubber strap for wearing it in the water. I found only one place on the internet so far that sells authentic Glycine watch bands, and they charge $115 USD for any 22mm watch band, be it nylon, calfskin, alligator, or rubber with a standard, old-school tooth-and-eye latch--no deployant clasps offered. Stainless link bracelet by Glycine is $280, so I decided to pass on getting one of those, at least for now. But this was a GREAT deal at $600 on Massdrop. Hopefully it proves to be as durable as it is handsome.
Finally!
I've just received mine, after a first attempt and an empty box.
Maybe that's the reason why MD shipped mine via UPS, I hope it's not their new shipping policy. Those express carriers are deal breakers with their fees on top of VAT.
I chose the GL0100 for its sleek dial that doesn't look like a chrono.

I changed the strap because this watch deserves more than a nylon NATO.
Lumes are very clean.

PS: Price was $599.99.
PS2: Chrono is not working properly, second hand gets stuck at 59sec, minute hand doesn't engage and balance wheel stops oscillating. It's a curse!
Update: I received an answer from the support and the options were to send back the watch for refund ( but after having to pay VAT and importing fees that was not an option ) or send the watch for repair in the US ( I'm in France, that would mean shipping charges both ways and the risk of additional importing fees ).
While waiting for an answer from the support, I had a look at the 7750 PDF and identified a problem with the minute counter jumper which was not in contact with the minute wheel. After getting the answer from the support I decided to open the watch to check the issue and my chrono is now working fine.
I thought that this could help some 7750 owners, so I'm posting the procedure which is pretty simple.
All you have to do is carefully realign the minute counter jumper ( 46 ) with the minute counting wheel ( 38 ), jumper should be centered between two teeth ( A ), that's it.
EwenFRHello, Thanks for starting.
I dont have that watch Not the Problem but i got a combat sub and my bezel is always clicking when i turn it.
I read your post and wanted to ask if it wouldnt have been possible for you to send the watch to Switzerland?
cheers
Received this beauty yesterday and it's more impressive in person than in the pics. My first 7750 movement, which I have wanted for a long time. Very happy with this purchase, awesome MassDrop!
I'm going to go out on a limb here and state straight up that I think Glycine is one of the most overrated watch brands we see here on MD. That said, I'm well aware they have a fallowing and I'm certainly not saying they're a bad watch, per se.
My issue is with the games everyone seems to be playing with their offered price vs the claimed MSRP. We know they're bull shit up front, but I say it also says something about the value the manufacturer puts on the watch, and perhaps worse--what the manufacturer thinks of YOU, their customer. Consider for a moment the many things you do buy over the corse of a month or year--would you trust anyone who claimed the price of "X-whatever" was really two or three thousand times more expensive, but they were giving you a deal on it? Say...groceries, a tank of gas, or dinner and drinks? No, you would not! You would think they were trying to con you. I say that's what Glycine is doing, and maybe even (or especially) what Rolex is doing, and maybe every other watch manufacturer is doing too. My question is how deep do you want to get into it, for this brand? How much kool-aid are you willing to swill to jump on this or that bandwagon?
But even if you don't agree with me, do some price checking before you buy any watch, but especially any Glycine. And remember: there is NO shortage of Glycines, and this isn't the only place sells them.
RayF'Old' Glycine didn't play those crazy MSRP games, but it seems the Invicta genes are slowly coming out after their takeover. I bought a 'MD Exclusive' Airman shortly after their acquisition of Glycine that was altogether pretty solid, save for a few quirks here and there (reviewed on this site if you're curious). However, it WASN'T a legitimate exclusive item and ended up on Ebay from multiple sellers a month or two later. A couple months after that, I ordered the maroon and gold Combat Sub from their direct Ebay storefront for a song... but the bezel insert was set VERY clearly off in the bezel. Things like that drive me nuts, so I sent it back very quickly for a refund. To their credit, they settled the refund relatively painlessly. That said, after lusting for that specific model for quite some time, the watch itself was rather underwhelming... not BAD in any sense (other than the stupid bezel), but just somewhat underwhelming. At any rate, my limited experience coupled with the recent inflation of their 'MSRPs' and introduction of tons of new model variations has soured the brand for me.
Problem is, in the spiel they don't tell us which one is the GL0100😩
I like the one with the photo from the side angle, with fluorescent numbers on the dial
But often they don't show the picture of the actual specific watch on offer, and we never know which one we're actually buying. Sign of an amatuer company that can't be trusted.
Are you being serious right now?
Have you ever seen a watch lume before in different kinds of lighting at different angles?
Lume typically isn't straight up white, but more of a off white-yellow-yellow green color. My guess is the numbers are lumed as well as the hands, as evidenced by another picture posted by someone who actually bought the watch over 6 months ago. That would probably explain the difference in color between the two pictures.
For what it's worth, the "dial" is the exact same across all pictures. Only difference is the coloration in the numerals. Look in the mirror before you go mouthing off to people about them being wankers.
Had I realized this watch was being taken down so soon, I would have purchased one. Spent too much time shopping around and now I missed it.
