Receive mine today did a quick listening.. this thing is power hungry. I'm using a ifi Zen can and requires max 18db and my DAC volume at 100%
This headphone provide the widest soundstage I've heard, yet the mids and vocals are sweet, forward and focused. Some could feel it's abit too forward if you are used to the more relax kind of headphones. The highs are amazing as well. Out performing the ZMF Eikon, the bass is another level especially with the amp xbass turned on. Impact and fast and with lovely sub bass.. at only $1100.00 this is a keeper!
Wow but why do you want to run it through the IC?😅 Anyway I've sold the GL850 after gotten the GL1200. So far this is best thing I've heard. Cannot find anything missing unlike the other headphones which I wish there are more highs or more bass or more details or more mids. GL1200 does everything so well even with a cheap $70 Amp.
I got them since maybe two weeks and they sound amazing.
Wide.. Punchy...clear... Natural sounding cans. With dekoni nuggets they fit perfect on my head.
I discover my music new.
Im in love !!
lokiiamiWhat kind of music do you listen?
I prefer rock and accoustic stuff. But i discovered some technical tracks they sound amazing on these cans.
Technical hitch psycho celtic on Youtube...wooow what a thunder in the ears. Unbelievable. Or the track " faster" .
LambdastormTotally agree. Sold my GL2000s fairly quickly. To the untrained ear they sound good, but there is WAY better out there. The GL1200s run on something other than the interface box it comes with are the best sounding headphones I've ever heard in my life. Im curious how the GL850s compare to the GL1200s
scottluI said special amp because I bought a Burmester 933 clone from AliExpress for around 240$. 🙈 But this amp works very well with the GL1200 and better then my Denon or older Marantz speaker amps. I use Qobuz on my computer and a RME ADI-2 DAC FS as DAC. From there the chain goes via silver Kimber cinch cable into the Burmester clone. The speaker output is connected to the GL1200 converter box with the cables that arrived with the box (think about to change them also). From the converter box I use high class 12 strains Lavricable to the GL1200.
this headphone is so good that you can clearly hear the differences on changes of the cable. The sound gets more and more realistic.
I love the sound of the golden drivers from the GL1200 but I had the problem that sometimes the bass produced a crackling sound on my left ear cup I realized it is because of a loose contact. After trying to refit it it stopped working. 😨 At the moment I use my silver drivers that sounds also good but not that perfect like the golden ones.
I will send the golden drivers on RMA to Linsoul and hope they change them in a better one without a loose contact.
That’s the problems about quality what I am talking about. My GL2000 has no quality issues. But the GL2000 doesn’t sound as good as the rest.
GBNThe thing about Chris is that he is very specific in his reviews, and he buys most of his own gear, from $20 to $50K then he tells you if it's good or not. If it's bad he usually doesn't review it, but I've seen him give less than stellar reviews to LinSoul stuff too. Been following him for years.
Cool product, but Gold Planar is insane with the pricing on these. They’ve placed themselves way to close to the HEDD HEDDPhones which actually have a pedigree.
If they put these out for $700-$800 (which is apparently what they sell for in China on taobao) there would be a value proposition there. At this price point I don’t know why would wouldn’t get the HEDDPhone for virtually the same money and get a German engineered product made by people who’ve been working with AMTs for a very long time.
You mean like this? Yes. BOTH sound amazing. GL850 isn't quite as power-hungry as HEDDPhone is, but is more power-hungry than anything else that I have, (Including Modhouse Argon Mk2). Topping A90 drives it beautifully. SMSL SP200 drives it "adequately". (Plenty loud, but just not as full and dynamic.) Though the SP200 channel imbalance issue goes away COMPLETELY with either headphone since it takes raising the volume so much to get them to even 70db with either of them. Sadly, while the Artemis amp sounds AMAZING with loud tracks, it just doesn't power either of them well enough to be enjoyable. Not to mention that it must be struggling at 95-100% volume. Throw HD650/6XX or even my Beyer T1 v2 headphones at the Artemis, and it's the best-sounding amp for dynamics and instrument positioning that I have by far. So my mission NOW is to find an amp that PERFORMS like the Artemis, but POWERS like the A90. Not that the A90 sounds BAD... It just doesn't sound QUITE as good as the Artemis when both run headphones that the Artemis can power. (Because someone will ask - Yes, the Artemis powers The Argons beautifully, but know that you'll be at 90% or greater ALL the time, so more headroom would be better, but for most tracks it's passable power-wise in a quiet environment.)
knorris_sirronkI don't have Artemis amp to compare, but HeadAmp GS-X Mini has plenty of clean power for hard to drive headphones. On the other hand, it also has a noticeable noise floor with more sensitive headphones. Might be a good companion to your Artemis. Try to check it out.
