My short opinion about Gustard A20h. I have it for about 6 months and it beated my previous fav desktop set : ifi iCan Pro + SMSL SU-9 which I have had for some years. Mainly I listening A20h alone with all headphones but sometimes I do a split with HiFiMAN EF6 and sound gets even more fuller and with more body. Amir's measurements and opinions you can put in fairy tales IMHO. In previous year I had SMSL SP200 and Monoprice THX 887 and they are near Gustard as much Tangzu Waner is near Thieaudio Monarch MKII :)

Is this worth it over a modi multi bit with a vali 2 or Lyr 3 amp if I am only using single ended

I've been wanting this for a long time. Now I see it has 4 days left and I know if I can afford it in about 14 days... Bummer. Hope it turns up again.

I bought this amp a while back as a step up from my Schiit Modi 2 Uber/Magni 2 Uber stack and I have to say it was well worth it. It is well built and much heavier than you’d expect, and definitely had a bigger sound than the Schiit stack. The amp is pretty good, the dac is really good for the money, especially if you like the “velvet sound” of the AKM 4497 chip as opposed to the X-series DACs Gustard makes that use Sabre dac chips. I used the A20H dac with a Questyle CMA 600i and it substantially improved the sound of the latter unit over it’s single built in AKM 4490 dac chip. The 6 digital filters the Gustard dac offers also are fun to play with and the menus are well laid out. The amp section is a bit lacking in power but the multiple gain setting shell mitigate this somewhat. I was primarily running LCD-X’s through this when I first got it and didn’t realize I was missing anything until I got an Audeze Deckard amp (4w @ 20ohms!) and the headphones jumped up a notch in awesomeness. Perhaps a bit unfair of a comparison but consider that the Audeze amp is single-ended only. Still, most folks would be happy with the Gustard as an all-in-one for the long haul, especially at this price. And you could always keep it for the dac (don’t forget those balanced analog outs!) and upgrade your amp down the road.

When they say "amp", I wish the would say "pre-amp" so that some of us don't get all excited about an integrated version :S

SStasYes it can be confusing. What they mean is headphone amp.

This is a much better DAC than others being sold here. Differential balanced 4497s which are the highest level AKM chips. Dual power supplies firewalled off from the rest of the circuit. Regulated power supplies and discrete line level amping. USB controller is using the older XMOS controller do it doesn't support beyond DSD256 but the controller does use a pair of Accusilicon clocks which are audio-specialized OCXOs and unlike most common XMOS implementations will support both 44.1 and 48 rate families. I would personally use a good DDC with the I2S input to get DSD512. Vastly better DAC than the usual toys sold here. If you can fit the budget I strongly recommend this DAC over the others.

Quick little review: I've had this for a little over a year now and it's spectacular. It's my personal end game. No issues, plug-and-play. The balanced output on this is where it's at; sound separation and stage are where this amp excels.

I purchased this from shenzhenaudio on amazon almost two years ago. It was the rev 1 I believe not long after it first came out, which had dead RCA output and volume knob skipping issues. I sent it back for repair and got a newer rev, which has had no problem since then. My only complaint is the hiss when sensitive IEMs are plugged in to the single-ended jack. It's plug and play, no driver issue whatsoever. I use it with fb2k WASAPI/DSD output. Now the picture here looks like at least a rev3, as the knob is different again from my replacement unit. Gustard certainly has been silently improving this product and I believe now this latest rev should be very reliable. I paid $800+ and $200 return shipping for repair, so $700 for the latest rev is a very good deal. This is fully balanced. I don't think you get that on any other product below $1000. Also it's two-in-one and both sections are pretty good.
