The Happy Hacking Keyboard has played a prominent role in the mech keys community since its release in 2006. It could be because of its compact form factor, the ergonomic cylindrical step chassis, or the smooth Topre electrostatic capacitive switches; or maybe it’s a combination of it all Read More
That's fair, I feel the same with Cherry mx switches and all the clones, they just feel boring and no different from the expensive HPs, Zeal ones, Gateron Inks etc to cheap ones that come with $50 Chinese boards. Lube does a little to make them smoother but not worth the price of effort, linears are ok but tactiles are just cheap feeling compared to Topre. But not much they can do with such a cheap mechanical mx design, tiny spring and leaf with cheap housing.
From my experience, 205g0 doesn't play well with Topre. Too sticky for this particular switch. Give Tribosys 3204 a try if you still have the board. Putting on silencing rings helps tremendously too. Probably more so than even lubing.
im looking into buying an hhkb (probably not from here) and i was wondering, is it possible to put the spacebar on backwards? I've been using an inverted spacebar on my mx boards for years and i'm not sure if i could ever return to a 'properly' oriented spacebar.
