Born on Kickstarter and inspired by the walk-everywhere culture of New York City, Honey Soles allow you to comfortably wear your shoes with or without socks. That’s because they’re made of sustainably harvested natural cork: a naturally antibacterial, moisture-wicking material that breathes well, helps prevent odor, and molds to the shape of your foot over time Read More
Ha I love that they say the "walk everywhere culture of NYC..." Where and when did that happen? Our culture has ALWAYS been one of taking the SUBWAY everywhere...lol
This is up to the manufacturer, not MD. It isn't a rule to take a long time to get to the customer, so if they were to say, have all the current ones on hand for a week's drop, they could have them to you a week after the drop ends. Just hypothetical, but I've had drops where I got the product within the same week.
rhinocerosbladderAnd wtf do you care? You didn't even bother reading the comment I was responding to, where it was stated as manufacturer's decision when to introduce the bear soles here. As for your same week BS, I couldn't care less, I clearly stated my concern was about international customers, who'd be lucky to get it within the month, not to mention the customary long lead time frames even before the drop ships🙄 finally, it's about being prepared: do you buy an umbrella only when it starts to rain?
Curious about the thickness of this insole. Are they thick enough that they change the effective size of the shoe. I've used some insoles where the foam or gel is so thick that it basically requires a shoe about a half size larger for a good fit.
I'm interested in this as well, but your reply didn't answer the question. What is the thickness of the insole - around the heel, around the arch, and at the forefoot?
EatingSteakThanks for following up here, EatingSteak. Honey Soles are 4mm thick at the forefoot and 7mm thick at the bottom of the heel cup. The arch height is approximately 1 inch, varying slightly based on size.
I did try them in my redwings. They did not fit well. As the Honeysoles representative stated, it will work, but size is a factor, and there are better options.
I would, as Zilvent said, go with thicker Merino wool socks instead as a first measure. However, if you made the same mistake that I did and sized up on your Red Wings (you should usually go a half size down), then any of the Red Wing brand footbeds fit much better.
andrewin94I'm ok with the size and use some very thick bison/merino socks. Works well most of the time but every once in a while a little extra cushion and insulation from the ground would be nice.
Thanks for the reply I'll try elsewhere.
Not a formal review as i've only had them for 4 hours in my champion 8 year old dockers laceless oxfords... but so far not a fan. I put my socks back on because of sweat. Perhaps they need to break in longer but out of the box they are not confortable and they don't shed heat very well. I've had many no-name insoles from amazon that are simply better. But i will say these dockers are size 10 and did not have to trim the insole at all. They are a perfect fit.... but are supposed to be sized for up to an 11 so maybe they are small in the toes? At any rate, i'm anticipating finding a different insole or reordering the old ones i was using (a "gell'n" clone).
jhonisCork insoles will usually take upwards of a week of wearing to be "comfortable" think of Birkenstocks if you've ever had them. They take time to mold to your foot
WhichwaydidheGoThanks for your question. The arch support is low level in depth. The cork heel stabilizer is hard and the foam between the stabilizer and the cork top cover is soft.
I just received, trimmed and started wearing my Honey Soles. My only disappointment is that I did not order a set for every pair of shoes I own in the first place. These are fantastic! I already hit the request button to bring back the drop!
