Nice numpad, clunky software.
The numpad itself is well built, but getting it programmed felt like a chore. Once it is programmed though, it’s nice to work with.

Solid hardware, software is ok
I really like the case and the board. The software was a bit confusing at first, but not important to figure out with a little research

Great versaility, support lacking
Like that it's compatible with VIA. Feels sturdy. Initially RGB was broken. I can only assume it was shipped with the wrong firmware(?). I was able to flash the numpad by tracking down the hex file on Idobao's discord. I was able to figure out how to get this thing working, but I feel like I shouldn't have had to. I believe this is the V1 RGB Montex: https://idobao.github.io/firmware/id27.html I hesitantly recommend this numpad.

Great Numpad
Build quality feels very nice, RGB on every key so when using VIA its got a lot of options. I also really like the row at the top which I have used for macros and opening programs.

A really solid Macro pad... with a few hangups
https://discord.gg/gTgWpsxGTu (You'll need this) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbQuWRQbTvg&t=327s (And watch this before buying) I really like this macro pad but it's got a few issues that I feel need to be discussed. To clarify, what I received is the newer version of this macro pad that includes RGB lighting, hotswap kailh sockets, the works, no acrylic bottom though bummer. When I say that I like the Idobao Montex I really want to say that it fits my use case really well. I want something slightly smaller than my keyboard that will help in both work and play. As a hefty macro pad this fits that perfectly. However when I received the Montex I was so excited and without any prior information I slotted in all the switches and plugged it in. A row of numbers and the upper left "FN" row key just weren't working. Tested the switches and they were fine. Pulled off the back and discovered that two of the kailh gates had been pushed out. After watching Hipyo's video I realized that this was a common problem. No big deal I'm a hardware guy so I busted out my soldering iron and heat treated them back on and carefully reinserted the switches while bracing the sockets on the back. (In a perfect scenario, you want to brace EVERY socket with a hefty amount of force when socketing the switches. Learn from my failure please.) Keys still weren't working, even after flashing with QMK (Why you'll need the discord link if you are not adept at the QMK software. VIA if you get the non RGB one the guides are poorly translated and sometimes out of order) The problem that occurred was that the sockets when popped out also brought the pads of the PCB with them. If you make my mistake be prepared to order a new board from Idobao. You will need to get in contact with someone there, order a new board for $40 (15-25 days for shipping and that's just if you live in the US) Drop does as far as I'm aware does not offer refunds or replacement boards. This is not to scare you off of course, this is a wonderful piece of hardware and I can't wait to use it (unfortunately I am and it cost me double) So be ready or be cautious. Idobao makes great products, I have heard nothing but good things about their keyboards, but their build quality is nothing like other's in the hobby, and I know they are trying to improve it. The people from Idobao are very kind as well, and they love their keebs. I wouldn't have spent the $40 to order another board if I didn't believe in this product. They just REALLY need to up their QA.
