Can someone tell me why you would get these over the JBL LSR305's? I have Emotiva Airmotiv 5S's which blow away both but just curious. At their usual price of $400, they seem as overpriced as Audio Engines.

BigTerminatorDefine "blow away". For me SQ is important but I also need/want the connectivity options - the combination of which blows away the Emotivas & JBLs.

BigTerminatorThe JBLs are independently powered studio monitors. That means both speakers need their own power cable and outlet, and you will also need to run your input signal to both speakers, as they do not connect to each other. They also only have only one input (XLR &TRS jacks but its still a single input) so you can’t switch inputs easily like the YU5. Also you miss out on the 2 digital optical inputs, and the convenience of the remote. You also loose the dedicated sub-out port if you ever want to extend the low end. Also you are comparing studio monitors to a bookshelf hi-fi – two completely different philosophies of use. If you are making music, go with the JBLs or maybe some Yamaha HS series. If you are simply listening to music/movies/games for your own enjoyment, go with the Kanto YU5.
