IcefalkonAgreed. Tried it in NUc CanJam and I definitely prefer this 2k headphone over the 3k HE1000v2. To me it’s at the same level with a 5k Abyss 1266.
I personally think it’s selling for a reasonable price. Actually I requested this drop but unfortunately I happen to be short of cash when it besomes available. The marginal costs for high end audio are never low.
ZhiyaoYoungWell PanY took the words out of my mouth. These are definitely better than the HE1K’s and they sound better than the ZMF’s. I too thought that they were on par with the Abyss.
IcefalkonI agree on the a LOT worse for a lot of money as I have experienced the same but as I have not heard these being outside US, hard to say otherwise.
The sad thing is there are many headphones overhyped for no reason by fans who have no idea.
But then sound & the value, not cost, is highly subjective.
ZhiyaoYoungSame situation here. Hope it won’t take 6 months to bring it back. I’ll reserve cash for it.
The only complaint is its weight. If you don’t care that, then there’s no better planar headphone under even double of this price.
If you want to buy something cheaper but no worse than the Odin, I’d recommend the Koss ESP950.
IcefalkonYeah, I felt the Odin sounds similar to the HifiMan HE6. They both have solid and lush sound. But Odin has better micro dynamic and is much easier to drive.
JdjungHi I haven't tried L700 so I cannot give you my opinion on it.
To me, electrostatics always give you more details and dynamics (even the cheap ones). But dynamic driver and planar headphones give you a different experience. They are different types of animals. Electrostatic headphones bring you good enough sound quality with less cost than dynamic drive/planar headphones.
