With painstakingly contoured enclosures perfectly designed for LZ’s insane driver array—topped off with high-end carbon fiber plates—the AX IEM is impressively well outfitted, physically speaking. Inside each IEM, there are nine (yes, nine) dedicated drivers to deliver sensationally three-dimensional sound. The low-frequency liquid crystal-coated composite diaphragm driver carries power and thickness, while a set of four Knowles balanced armature drivers pick up the mid frequencies with ease. Combine that with a pair each of high-frequency-tuned piezoelectric ceramic and electrostatic actuators, and you’ve got a small army of sound-producing units for a well-rounded response. LZ has also ensured extra customization with onboard tuning switches allowing for a bit of extra molding for each of your specific listening situations.
