These cutting boards originate from one of the largest teak plantations in South America. The wood is sourced using responsible forestry practices and made with remnants from other teak products typically discarded during manufacturing Read More
My parents have had a board they've been putting in the dishwasher for a decade and it's still perfectly fine to this day. Without speculation, would this perhaps be able to withstand the same kind of usage? Thanks!
SyedAhmedAliThe bor d I got from the last drop and am in the process of returning, is old stock Mario Batali branded. And they still haven’t updated their product images or description to disclose this disgusting fact.
I got two mediums and I've been using them for the past month, one for my office and one for weekends out. The medium is a great size for packing for BBQs, picnics, beach, etc. Both have one smooth side and one rougher side, just like as MadDad's, with annoying wood hairs. Perhaps an unfortunate feature of Teak? I treated both boards with Boos block cream and, thereafter, mineral oil as needed. I'll probably try sanding the rough sides when I get a chance...
Board just arrived. Really nice, except that it's split (unglued) from the edge, in about 4-5" between a pair of the planks, and one of the planks along that edge is cracked partway through. Real bummer.
Contacted support; hopefully I can get a replacement. Real shame, if not.
MadDadNot glassy-smooth, but I have no complaints about the finish.
Splinters like "stab you in the fingers" splinters, or like wood-hairs after a coarse sanding?
I've got a massive teak end grain cutting board that only comes out for large roasts or racks of ribs. Teak is a naturally water-repellent wood that holds up to washing better than bamboo or other woods. I'd still get a good board oil and condition it every 5-10 washings. It's easy and keeps your boards from cracking.
OnslashOlive oil goes rancid after awhile. Mineral oil won't go bad and impart a funky taste like vegetable oils can. I guess if you're washing and oiling often it might not be so bad.
