So I ordered from Microbrand.store and it arrived yesterday... sorta. The local postal carrier pilfered it out of the box, sealed it back up, changed the address on the front, marked it as signed for by me, and left the empty box on my neighbor's porch. I got a text message that it had arrived and had been signed for by me, 10 minutes after I observed this yahoo lingering in his truck in front of my neighbor's house.
I met with the local postmaster and the dude is gonna get fired (not my regular carrier), but I won't get the watch I'll bet. I might get my money back, but I am so bummed I didn't go with MD... so much for "instant gratification". Lesson learned!
I really dig the white version, and find the choice of a Miyota was a wise one (cheap and reliable) for such an entry-level yet somehow refined looking piece. I'm unfortunately on medical watch desintoxication sa can't even consider it!
From: http://www.watchisthis.com/manufaktur-waldhoff/ Manufaktur Waldhoff is a new independent watch manufacturer started in 2015 by Manfred Starck and Nicolas Lehotzky. Based in Pforzheim, the brand’s goal is to bring a line of well-priced high-end automatic watches. For this they are using an interesting set of features: the watches are designed in Geneva, Switzerland, produced in Pforzheim, Germany and powered by Japanese movements. How will this help the end-user? Simple! The design is done by an experienced watch designer, Nicolas Lehotzky, which has a huge work experience as a product designer, in product management and as a sourcing specialist. Manfred Starck has 40 years of watch business experience, having his own company, Starck-Uhren Gmbh, since 1990. Pforzheim is recognised as an important metallurgic centre and go-to place for watch case suppliers. The movements used by the Manufaktur Waldhoff are well known Japanese calibres from Miyota and Seiko. We think this is a winning combination of skills that can satisfy every wish regarding quality and price.
Yes Sir. While we do not produce all parts in house (who does that in this price category?), we do the case engineering ourselves, plan all parts sourcing ourselves, assemble and test in our own small factory. We do not buy complete watches from third party manufacturers like 99% of other watch brands in our price category.
You are totally right about that. Considering the cost of labor in Germany and Switzerland, we would never be able to complete in this price category if we tried to do everything in house. Developing a movement alone would cost several million Euros. We simply look for the best quality-price components no matter the country, as we are sourcing neutral.
