Can someone please help me? I am thinking to use Chord Mojo with this Koss system. The maximum input voltage of the E/90X is 1 V (if my Vpk understanding is correct). Chord Mojo's line level output is 3V and in headphone out mode, the max is 2V. So, does that mean I should never use line level out of Chord Mojo and instead use <50% volume of Chord Mojo with the E/90X?

phaysaalGoing to use mine with Chord Hugo2 lineouts controlled by it's volume. Its probably the best way, so as not to over-drive the inputs. This way you can set the and balance the E/90x energizer and not have to mess with it.

DragonLickThanks for your opinion. I don't know about Hugo2's line out voltage rating. Mojo's line out has 3V voltage output and E/90X accepts much smaller amount - 1V. This is my main concern.

phaysaalIt's the same for the Hugo2 only will be controlling it by using the volume on the Hugo. The Hugo has 2 modes of operation...fixed (3 volt output) and variable. So, if you can control output by using the Mojo volume control then you are fine, as that is what volume control does. It controls the peak to peak output voltage from 0V to 3V peak to peak.

DragonLickYeah, it is exactly same for Mojo. According to my knowledge too much input voltage can damage a system. So, just being cautious, I am using variable mode (using volume knobs of course). Before connecting I am turning it very low and after connection I am increasing it just as much I need for my taste. I kept E/9X volume knobs almost at the middle. In this way, so far it is working fine. I was wondering, if I use the fixed voltage (3V), then what will happen - a) will it damage the Koss energizer, b) will it be just okay but same sound quality change, or c) will it be okay with a different sound quality. How is your experience with the fixed voltage mode of Hugo2 with this Koss E/9X?

phaysaalFirst off, I dont have my headphones yet but here is how I plan to set things up: Set Hugo volume to 0. Turn E/9X volumes up slowly while listening for any noise floor/hiss...if none, turn up to max gain. Use Hugo to adjust volume. By turning the gain up on the E/9X as high as possible there should be more safety margin to avoid clipping the input of E/9X but I wont know until I get mine. Either way, sounds like you are on the right track. DO NOT USE THE CHORD IN 3V FIXED MODE!!! You could do damage! Update: I have been using my ESP/95X headphones now for a while...I absolutely love them. And, yes, you should crank the gain all the way up on the E/9X and control the volume using your Hugo (or other pre-amp/DAP/phone/player.

DragonLickThanks so much for your detail plan. It is not exactly as mine but yours one is better. So, I will try your plan. And about your last all caps sentence, I just wanted to hear that. You are right, I guess.

DragonLickI just tried your plan in Mojo. News is that there is no hiss at all. I kept E/90x gain knobs 3 knobs less than the max. Then I turned Mojo's volume up and with just a few up it sounds perfect. Thanks. Hope you will enjoy much more with your Hugo2.
