Moleskine? Really? Garbage! You want some Rhodia webnotebooks or some Quo Vadis Habana, something with some proper clairefontaine fountain pen friendly paper.

Moleskine is fine with smaller nibs and drier inks. I use Cahiers every day at work.

Moleskins look nice on the outside and the pages are set up well, the pocket is nice and the cover too. BUT, the paper is not at all fountain pen friendly or even rollerball friendly. There is a lot of feathering and terrible bleed through when using anything but an extra fine nib. And even then there is ghosting on the obverse.
If only they would make a line of pads with a better paper.

Recoil_RobIf you don't mind having dramatically fewer pages (and no guidelines), the Sketchbook series has a very thick page you'll never bleed through. I used these as journals for a few limited duration trips to great effect.
However, if you just use one side of the page in the normal thinner thickness books it never bleeds through. This actually gives you more effective pages than the Sketchbooks, and you can have lined/squared pages. Depends on what you want.

CadalackThese are much better than the bargain basement $9 Staples versions... More than double the page count, a choice of hard or soft cover (no extra charge), they have the upgraded binding and the elastic cover retention strap, the ribbon page holder, as well as the accordion pocket. These are MUCH nicer that the Staples version which is strip adhesive and staple bound.

With the cost of shipping and tax included the "deal" advertised on this drop is lost completely. I might as well buy whatever version, size color style I like for the same if not less on amazon. I have yet to find a solid deal on notebooks of stationary on massdrop. Amazon is great for moleskins: http://amzn.to/2r0zfk0

freii feel this has been happening a lot lately. guess people see a high percentage discount (off msrp. and what retailer charges msrp!?) and just assume the savings aren't worth investigating. pretty disappointing if you ask me.
