The UltraNova was a well-built homage to Novation’s past and a bold step into the future, but its large form factor made it inaccessible to those with more constrained desk space. Fitting the features you expect and a few surprises into a device that slots easily into your pre-existing set-up, the Novation MiniNova Synthesizer enables you to fully navigate the sonic spectrum without leaving your home studio.
After selecting one of the included 384 patches, start riffing through three octaves across the 37 note keyboard. To customize every keystroke, you can adjust the velocity sensitivity of each key. The real fun comes through tweaking the four performance knobs, adjusting the pitch and modulation wheels, and adding effects to your selected patch. Once you’ve found just the right tone, the MiniNova remembers your settings and you can store up to 128 additional patches in the hardware.
For further customization, you can apply pass filters, waveforms, and a 33-pattern arpeggiator as needed. To add vocals to the mix, the MiniNova includes a gooseneck microphone and a built-in vocoder that comes with all the effects and settings you need to fully explore your voice. Also featuring eight back-lit rubber pads, able to run off USB or DC power, and built with enough inputs and outputs to function as your audio interface, the Novation MiniNova Synthesizer packs a world of power into an easily transported device.
