"frequencies as high as 40 kHz"
Wow! So much hertz!!!!
Either these intended for dogs, or this is the most insulting and cynical piece of marketing bullshit I've ever heard.

BallpeinI don´t generally comment unless I can provide support but this is getting a bit out of hands so my two cents: 1. The drivers we use on the HEMs - which can reach up to 40kHz - happen to be one of the best drivers Knowles builds and we found these to have an ideal performance to our earphones. 2. There is an official Hi-Res Audio certification and to receive it the earphones must reach up to 40kHz. Who appreciates the certification is another question - but sometimes it is required in business. As our products allow us to have the certification, it just makes life a little bit easier. 3. There are "claims" that frequencies above human hearing can be perceived and "felt". Obviously another place and time for this discussion. However, when a driver surpasses 20kHz we don´t need to push it to its limits nor apply any roll-off to balance its weaknesses.
I hope this is helpful.

BallpeinAlright... So whether or not the IEM's can actually reach that range I wouldn't know as I've never heard them. However there is a purpose, and it is why high end studio monitors do this. When they say 20 to 20 what you need to realize is that there is fluctuation at the extremities of the frequency response ranges on any playback or recording device. So to counter that, and to try and achieve a sound that is as flat as possible, you extend the response range past audible hearing. Also all that extra signal room provides depth and air (below 20) and room reflection and atmosphere (above 20). There are earthworks reference microphones (model QTC40) that range from 4 to 40 for this very reason. So a scam, not so much... a lack in education? Maybe.

I honestly feel like this is one of the rare deals I’ve had on this site. When I purchased those for the price I did, lower than the price you’re being offered now, they were close to $500 on Amazon at their lowest. And honestly they sound really good. I do not like bright headphones I don’t like bright earphones. I like a little bass and that doesn’t mean it’s not audio file. Audio file just means what’s sounds good within 0 to 50,000 kHz or some shit and sounds good to you with good quality components. Bass to m audio file as shit and D’s for just over $200, for bass in mid heavy for balance Armature drivers were a good deal and I recommend them to anyone.

WILLxLOVEThat's "audiophile." One word. An audio file is something on your PC. Sorry, but using a wrong (and ludicrously wrong) usage multiple times made my head ache. (If English is not your first language, I apologize. But from reading your posts, it sounds to me like it unfortunately is.)

Got the HEM4 from the bluebox drop a while ago. I don't think the build quality is good enough for its price. The braided cable stopped working after a little while. The ear hook cable style often slips from my ear. Sometimes the cable gets loose.
Thats my experience, I don't know how the HEM 8 will hold up. The sound quality is good for my so the HEM8 should be even better

Thats good to hear, the cable I have now give a little electrostatic shock when I'm charged by carpets or other electro static material. I do live in the Netherlands, is this a problem with the transport of the cable? Also what website is the correct one? Because I only found a broken one before.

They use a 2-pin connector not MMCX.

OstewartOh, yeah, I didn't notice that. Thanks for the correction! However, you still use any cable, as long as it's 2-pin

Damnit massdrop I just thought I'd be okay for a while after HD6XX and Pinnacle P1. Well here goes another load of money unless the oddly supportive woman of mine talks me out of it. Damn audio is expensive.

I got the HEM6's from a bluebox drop a few months ago. I love the sonic performance, and fit / comfort, but there are some issues with the cords. the "audiophile" twisted cable tangles very easily and if it gets twisted in the opposite direction of the helix, the individual strands in the twisted pair will come apart and get individually tangled... making a real mess. As for the headset cord (the one with the built-in mic) I had callers complain of weird echoing and very poor sound quality on the other end of the line. Also, the rubber jacketing on that cable started to stretch and separate after just a few months and just recently has torn apart , exposing the individual wires and strength members inside. The worst of the damage seemed to be caused by the little slide ( that protects the "Y" junction and adjusts slack going to each ear), although the jacketing over the area that bends over the ears has also started to stretch apart: its just poor quality materials applied too thinly.
There is also an issue with where / how the cables connect to the actual IEM's: it's just a press/friction fit that slowly works lose over time. The friction fit has also started to degrade so that the time it takes from them to work lose becomes less and less.
Lastly, (and most importantly IMO) is that support is literally nonexistent: the contact link for US support on their website does not work / is blank and I've tried contacting them a few times via their FB page and never received a response.
No bueno.

ShenanigansI just got mine and I actually came here to see if anyone had figured out the cable-to-IEM connectors. I finally figured it out. I guess. And that was the first time I tried to connect the "high-end" cable to the IEMs. So it's disheartening to hear that they will get worse. I also had the exact same experience with their website and FB page. Anyway, thanks for taking the trouble to post.

Stephen879Some time after this post I did have a better experience with Optoma (NuForce's parent company) support. I think after reading this tread, someone from the company did finally get back to me via facebook to let me know that their support page on their website was updated and contained actual warranty and contact info. https://www.optomausa.com/warranty.aspx The number for North American support connected me to a real person who sounded like a native English speaker who was very friendly and helpful. He actually pre-populated the RMA form for me and emailed to me so all I had to do was print it and include it box when I sent the HEM6's back. Supposedly they're just going to replace everything, and the issues that I had with the cords where hopefully worked out in later production runs. I'll update the thread after I get the replacements.

@Jyri Hello NuForce,
I have question, I'm located in France and last drop I have buy a pair of NuForce HEM8 but it has no bass in the right... After only two month... It can happen, fortunately normally there is a warranty.
Massdrop support told me that this product doesn't have manufacturer's warranty and Massdrop warranty is just for one month... Hum... Lol! HEM8 cost 600E in amazon.fr. Ok the price is lower here and without that I wouldn't buy them but it's not a reason... No warranty? Seriously?
I hope to have an answer from you because even if these IEMs are awesome and this drop very cool, I'm very disappointed. Fortunately Massdrop support is cool and they offer to refund me.
I'm very sad to separate me from this IEM, is it possible to exchange it?
Thanks!

I did send you an email. Did you not receive? I am sorry to hear this. I am disappointed as well. I read your email earlier and contacted Massdrop to fix the problem so that this would not happen in future. It is extremely bad for our business the way they handled your case.
