yachuHi Yachu, The pen I received in December leaks right thru to the end and out over time. I rinsed it and could not clean the ink out of the threads as others have mentioned. I love how this pen writes so I ordered a grey one in the last drop hoping for better luck before I spotted this discussion. I will try the email given. Here's what mine looks like.

ray-cI did receive a replacement pen after this post via Yachu's directions, but hadn't had time to follow up until now. It came quickly via airmail and it writes wonderfully. I also got the grey one in the last drop and I love it also. I love these pens!! Thx Yachu.

I have to ask abut the “grey” pen. It does not look grey to me, it loks more ike a teal or petrol color. Can anyone who has seen the grey pen clarify this for me ?

Seeing the drop again with the clear option... I do like it.. LOL. But, I am ordering the Leonardo Officina Italiana Momento Zero... so will have to pass this time around. ;)

Not sure if Yachu below is legit, Tried writing to the email jingi@ms13.hinet.net numerous times, no response. Can Massdrop intervene and let us know if this is a legit response. Bought a gray one based on the response from Yachu below. Now, not sure if I did the right thing. Zero customer service or presence in USA as far as I can tell. Got a leaky clear one and hoping the gray one won't leak. And what happens down the road? How do you get it serviced? replacement seal? etc..

AndreSchwartzI just wanted to respond back to the series of emails related to the leaking threads. My pen purchased through Massdrop had the same issue. I emailed OPUS at the email address provided and could not have been more satisfied with the response. I quickly received a follow-up email from the manufacturer and today received my replacement pen. The process was fast, painless, and the manufacturer could not have been more responsive. I will, without hesitation, consider purchasing another pen from OPUS - great customer service on all accounts based upon my experience.

AndreSchwartzI've received my replacement pen today as well, it was indeed very painless and the manufacturer was lovely! It was quick as hell too. I asked for a different color and nib and they delivered! Thank you very much, good customer service on all ends.

Hi all, just received the pen and all in all it's in good condition! Writes very very well, and filling it was a piece of cake as expected of a dropper-fill pen. I'm just curious of other's experience with the shut-off valve: I've filled it with ink, and closed the valve completely, however I'm still able to keep writing, I think I wrote a whole page with the valve off. I'm starting to suspect that I'll always be able to pull ink out of it? With it completely shut the flow is still decently wet (definitely more wet with the valve open) and I haven't seen any leakage issues yet. Would love to hear what others are experiencing and if what I'm describing is concerning to anyone.

jackson.cw.wongWell there is a mini reservoir about the size of like a drop or 2 after the shutoff valve. I'm just guessing its just so if you store it fully upside down it wont spill all the ink out or something

jackson.cw.wongI have 4 Opus 88 pens with the res & valve. The idea is... You open the valve.... Ink loads up into the feed section, and then you close the valve. So now it's an inkpot on standby. Write & write... once you get the sense you've used up the avail. ink, open, reload & then close the valve. Continue writing. It will certainly run dry. You can write with the valve open, but man it turns this thing into a gushing wet writer! Hope that helps.
I just received the replacement from @yachu at Opus 88. I can now say that not only do they make excellent pens, but also provide excellent customer service. Opus have earned a spot on my list of top ten FP brands. Hoping for more good things to come.

I have owned the demonstrator for about 1/2 year now. It is the pen that I always carry with me because of the shutoff valve. The nib came tuned well and writes smoothly. The grip section size is perfect for my hand. Downside: The pen doesn't post. It take 5 turns to take the cap off. So, great pen that I am happy to have purchased, but doesn't check all my boxes.
BaAxHello, could you please write email to jingi@ms13.hinet.net? We would like to send a new pen to you, as I explained few days ago, our CNC factory had tooling problem and now we fix it. Please write to me and tell me your Demo color/ address/ telephone number and nib type. Thank you so much.

Hello all, I just got my pen today and I was very excited to use it. I filled it up with some Diamine Sargasso Sea and it wrote beautifully right out of the box. After an hour or so, I noticed that some ink was leaking through the threads towards the blind cap. Has this happened to anyone else? Did I just get a dud or am I missing something here? Thanks for any help!

I'll add my voice to the chorus - this is a wonderful pen. I've got one with the stock Jowo nib, in F, and it's one of my favourite pens. I prefer it to any of my TWSBIs (I have 2 Gos, an Eco, a Diamond AL 580 and a Vac 700). The only pens I have that I like better cost at least an order of magnitude more.

TomaCzarCool hack, though the Pilot Parallel nibs don't look particularly good.
