Established in 1904, Oris creates authentic Swiss watches that stand the test of time. The LS2 Artelier Silver limited-edition automatic watch doubles down on both style and function Read More
bigred25929I would suggest, the engraving to be Sandford Fleming. That would make sense as he proposed a WW clock of 24 hours (avoid a.m. / p.m. issue) .
Ironically the GMT of that watch is not on 24 hours but 12h, so kind of am/pm with its opening showing night/day.
For those complaining about this watch to be European centric, may I remind this limited edition is about the Greenwich Meridian, that is not located elsewhere than in UK (still in Europe despite the brexit). Hence the globe somehow centred on this meridian.
For those Northern American, that wanted to see it great again, you can read that watch in this way:
- the large main hands indicate your local time in the US (and you don’t need a map to know where you are)
- GMT i.e. the small one, can be adjusted to a European country (so you can see what time it is in this small old territory… ;-)
I joined this Drop 😁 this ⌚ will be my birthday present, it ships 1️⃣ day before that ✅
I joined because I find the Oris caliber 6️⃣9️⃣0️⃣ quite interesting. I wanted another true GMT (more ℹ about GMT ⌚ types here) and this one provides exactly that 🤩 but with some 🆒️ tweaks like the duplicated minutes 🖐🏻 and the 🌞🌙 indicator so you don't need a 2️⃣4️⃣ hour scale. This seems to be a heavily modified ETA 2️⃣8️⃣3️⃣6️⃣ with 3️⃣0️⃣💎 that was created 🔙 in 1️⃣9️⃣9️⃣7️⃣, it's likely a module created in 🏡 by Oris & I appreciate that. Also, it seems that this is the first caliber that allowed easy changing for the hour 🖐🏻 using the pushers & the 📅 can be changed with these pushers, directly with a 👑 position and also when adjusting the time 👍🏻 Nowadays the caliber has been updated and you can use a rotating bezel instead of the pushers.
This will be my first Oris. I have never been a fan of this brand because I find it overpriced for what they offer, which nowadays is usually plain & unmodified Sellita calibers. Even their 🆕️ in 🏡 caliber which has like 5️⃣ days power reserve is only a 3️⃣🖐🏻 so for me it's expensive & there's really nothing to ✍🏻🏡 about. Anyway they've created several interesting in 🏡 calibers https://www.fhs.swiss/eng/2014-04-29_1337.html I regret they didn't continue that way until recently...

An interesting feature of this particular globe image (actually a projection in cartographer terms) is that they used one that does not include almost any part of the Western Hemisphere. A European watch for sure.
Love this watch;so tempted!! All of the materials and colour palette and the size work so well. Was a tad cheaper on Jomashop $1095 but cost jumped a bit for international delivery. So about the same as here, but you may be $30 or so dollars better off if you live in U.S.
