Why the stretch?! Are all men boys now? I don't want stretch pants, stretch jeans, stretch shorts, stretch anything! Jeggings are for girls and I am not a girl.

What are the chances of getting some good Schoeller fabric products on Massdrop? I know that a lot of manufacturers are going with their own fabric selections these days, presumably because of cost, but the downside of this is that you don't know what you're getting until you've put it through a season of use.
My Ferrosi shorts were fine for a season before I discovered they're neither all that durable and that they tend to go soggy a bit too easily. I've had proprietary Arcteryx softshell stuff with really weird coatings that triggered allergies. But my two Schoeller pieces (WB400 gloves, Dryskin trousers) have held through 5-10 years of use, including ice climbing and Nepalese peaks.

RockyMountainsUpdate to my post above. After using my Ferrosi trousers for a week in the Italian alps, they've now got abrasion marks (pilling) from the leg loops of my harness.
OR really dropped the ball when they specified the material for these pants.

Had mine for a week, they're very nice. Light stretchy material, felt super breathable; good for warm weather, maybe not ideal for cool wind? Felt colder than my usual stretch denim jeans. It would work well with thermals on underneath.
Just a heads up that black colour is not black, it is a dark grey, this was a surprise to me. Was disappointed originally but I'm growing to like it.

Good pants. I got a pair on the last drop. Light, breathable and fairly durable. Careful when bushwhacking though ... mine ripped during a bushwhack through thick alders in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. It happened during a fall with a 35lbs pack on. All my weight was essentially hanging from the pants. So they didn't exactly rip "easily". Overall, I love these and ordered another pair. Better colour options this time too. See photo.

gnarledcouleeI have the same OR pants and they wearing through in areas, but only after rock scrambling all over with them. I was kinda surprised what they put up with.
Basically it seems these pants are great as long as you aren't going to beat on them. Otherwise choose something a bit thicker. For basic backpacking and hiking these are great.

Anyone have a comparison to Prana Stretch Zions? Those have been my go to lightweight hiking pant but I am a fan of OR gear so am curious how these compare.

The Ferrosi feels like the fabric is more elastic to me for sure, but the fit is definately tigher in the crotch area. Does not restrict ability to highstep or stretch out, but not the same comfortable gusseted area from the Prana either. The fabric and fit feel better to the skin to me on the Ferrosi, however i've yet to wear them rock climbing or hiking in any real heat so I can't compare them to the Prana Zion pants which I wore climbing this weekend on a 45 minute hike with 1500' gain if relative comfort.
I've worn the Zion for years and have had -0- issues at all with them in the wear and tear department despite beating them up in the woods and rock, and i've not put the Ferrosi through the proverbial wringer at all like this so i've still got some bias toward my tried and true Zion's. Not sure how they'll handle heat, sweat and abuse from the rocks and brush, but I love the feel of the Ferrosi more, outside of the tighter crotch area.
Edit: I've since taken these out climbing indoors and out, as well as many hikes in the heat, and in the snow.
I've yet to really need a base layer, even in the 30s as long as I'm moving, but they are not going to keep warm chilling below 50 degrees.
Held up very well, no pilling, 5-10 washes and the water repellent coating has held up well.
Need a smaller size with recent weight loss, hoping they drop again before a trek to Nepal. Love to buy another pair.
Edit 1/25/18: With time i've really grown to like the Ferrossi over the Zion. I still wear my Zions quite a bit, the the Ferrossi just call to me to wear them more. I've bought a smaller size in the recent drop and they fit comfortably, dress up a little nicer and have overall become the pants that I want to wear everyday whether in town or wandering around the PNW wood and mountains. On the DWR coating and water resistance, this has washed out at this point, though I think it's partly my fault and I need to start washing with different detergents and removing the fabric softener when I wash.

Anybody (existing users preferred!) have feedback on the comfort level/stretchiness of these? I'm tempted to immediately pull the trigger at this price point, but being 6ft tall and about 220 makes me wonder. I'm 100% comfortable in Levi's 541 jeans, are these similar in stretch/comfort?

Based on my experience, the waist stretches after wearing, so a 32 would be better than the 34. (My 34's feel like 36's, except right out of the wash)

Agree with Mix3d. I have a 31" waist and I bought the 30 waist and they fit well. They are even slightly loose once I start moving around, but it's not like they will fall down without a belt.

Are these good for cold-ish weather? Something around 5 degrees Celsius with some rain

OrCohenI have these, and they block wind ok, but the fabric is quite thin. Their intended purposes is for rock climbing and bouldering. The material stretches really well. You aren't going to get any sort of insulation out of these though, so I personally wear long underwear with them at that temperature and they are great. Also note: they also aren't really waterproof and if they get really wet it takes a long time to dry (longer than 100% nylon pants).

These colours (for men) are all awful. I want Cairn, or Brown, or Coyote, or Black. Who wants blue and green?

Any one owns a pair of these and the MDxN&F Ichiban Selvage Denim? Would like to hear how the sizes compare. I'm a 33 in those.
Going by the size chart on the OR website, I can't quite decide between a 34 or a 36. https://www.outdoorresearch.com/us/en/mens-ferrosi-convertible-pants/p/2429730001319

Hmm, thanks for that! Sounds like the sizing chart is way off. I'm 150lbs... not sure where to go from here. I'll have to pass on this if MD can't provide a more accurate measurement guide.
