Would the 3.5 mm version work on the Mitchell & Johnson MJ2? It has the same 3.5 mm termination for the can end of the cable, but I know M&J designed either the cable or the headphones in a weird way so that the cable was reversible (there's no right or left side on the cable itself). Both the MJ2 and Hifiman cables have TRS on their ends, so I think it might work? I don't own any Hifiman or Sennheiser HD headphones, but I'd love try an XLR cable for my MJ2s, but I'd hate to waste the money if it won't work.

patpolkI think that wouldn't work because the MJ2 cable has two stereo outs while a Hifiman has two mono outs. The mono outs are weired the same way while the MJ2 picks up either the left or the right channel from a stereo plug. So my guess is that you would get either the same signal on both cups or none at all. Also, I don't think that a MJ2 can handle much power if the JP1 is any indication. Too much power can kill the JP1 and more power is the only advantage a XLR cable would have over the one you are already using.
