Product Description
Designed by well-regarded knifemaker Arthur Brehm, the QSP Neckmuk is one fixed blade that feels at home in the hand. That’s because it features a handle made from your choice of G-10 or Micarta with special curvatures shaped to accommodate each finger and ensure an ergonomic grip Read More
I don't know if I would consider soaking a blade in vinegar overnight abuse. A forced patina can help prevent "bad" rust by oxidizing the blade. I do this with 1095 blades because I'm lazy with maintenance, especially with the larger fixed blades I use rarely.
MadStorkI don't think of vinegar soaking as abusive either (though I don't think I've ever needed more than a couple hours in hot vinegar), but the comment before that also mentioned sitting in salt water for a week.... I would say that is.
It was more a theoretical discussion about where to draw the line for where abuse starts
I can only say that I have a QSP folder with D2. It's sharp and it's holding its edge nicely, so far. For the price, the fit & finish of my QSP is a fantastic value. It's definitely a competitor for fellow Chinese budget brands like Civivi and CJRB. At 30 bucks, I"m not going to worry about "Chinese" D2. I'll trust QSP's quality control and give this one a stab.
Yep, I picked up the Penguin, as well. I can't quite share the sentiment in a comparison with one of my Spydies (though, to be fair, I don't own a budget Spyderco, like the Tenacious), but as I said before, the quality/price ratio is spot on.
[That being said, $70 seems quite a bit high for a Tenacious!]
NarqWell, truth be told it was a little less since I got it off bladehq. But still. For a knife valued at $70 by spyderco...
In any case, I’m definitely satisfied with qsp. Changing my opinion on cheap Chinese knives and steels
I was beginning to worry with all the changes here if I would ever find another knife on Drop interesting enough to buy. Glad this knife popped up. Now, the endless waiting game.
bookworm13Lol, that was the same with me when I ordered the feldspar. It took so long to ship I completely forgot I ordered it. At least it was a pleasant surprise when I received it.
QSP has yet to ship the first drop of the Pelicans and the second round just ended.
maybe this brand shouldn’t have any more Drops so they shouldn’t be offered until they start delivering.
Oh, "smart" post, you're so ironically dumb 🙄
My package has currently traveled 926 miles of a 170 mile journey 😕

Red dot is the end goal, and usually goes straight there from "B"
Best case scenario is now 10 days to travel from NJ to the capitol district of NY.
@Drop maybe you could take some of the interest you earn by every drop lately being delayed weeks or months, and spring the extra $2 for a shipping option that doesn't suck?
Just a thought.
🤬
KavikAt least you got yours already. When you posted your review, my shipment arrived in California and apparently is crossing the Pacific by boat. "Scheduled delivery: Wednesday 5/13/2020"
I am that this new delay was engineered to allow my Locust to arrive first, which it finally did. I feel strongly that the Dropsters are smiling in the face of CoVid-2. It gives them a reason other than their own incompetence to explain the delay. They need to start paying interest on all these free loans.
If you look at this from the side when the blade is pointing down, the name should change to the neckduk. Despite the avian profile, I'm likely to sign on.
14themoneyAs Kavik pointed out, the “muk” comes from the Nessmuk style blade shape. Many knife makers or companies that use it usually would add the suffix -muk to their rendition. My favorite is the LT Wright Campmuk.
I’ve been eyeballing this knife for a while now. I don’t buy fixed blades much anymore because you can’t fidget with them like you can a folding knife, but at this price I don’t see how I can not buy it.
