The specs tab says "Blade length: 3.9 in (9.8 cm)". Is Drop measuring blade length incorrectly again? BladeHQ says 3.375".

Middle flick, or thumb open is very smooth on this unit. The bearings make all the difference. We found 9cr to be an excellent blade steel and honestly much better performance than 8cr. We can understand beauty being in the eye of the beholder, but after growing so tired of the same vanilla knives in this price point we wanted to re-imagine things a bit and have our own style, while still creating a very useable knife. Guys like Luvthemknives have tested our steel and sharpness and all the reports are spot on. I hope this information is useful for someone considering this knife. We are a domestic company that manufactures globally, however if you were to ever need customer service we are available and easy to work with. We really enjoy working with DROP! Id love to see us continue to have success here, and your feedback is welcome with us. Here are the stats:
  • Overall Length:8.125"
  • Blade Length:3.375"
  • Blade Width:1.375"
  • Blade Thickness:0.15"
Thanks!

Hey! Yes youre correct. Im glad you like the Ness, I think exploring the steels youve mentioned is a solid idea. I know we have recently buttoned up another run of Ness but with a really nice Carbon Fiber scales. I'd say I have had pretty positive experiences with AEB-L so that would be an excellent choice.

LooseyRighteous. Huge fan of seeing old school designs so cleanly executed -- as the old saying goes there's nothing left to take away, and that's when you know the design's perfect. The thing about a nessmuk is you can basically have your thumb on any point of the blade's spine you want so it's awesome for nimble cutting despite the chonky looking profile, and the Ness looks like if anything, hand placement's been enhanced. That's pretty impressive, if so. And for budget steels AEB-L offers a whole lot, and it has its own character and with an excellent heat treatment can give much more expensive steel a hard run for its money, but isn't so hard to grind that people screw it up. If Drop asks you to do an exclusive Ness with natural G-10, I'll buy that and if you do it with a steel like AEB-L that has as much character as the design does, I'll probably buy two.

They've had runs of Revo knives on BHQ and they do sell out. Figure I'll see what the hubbub's about.

Omniseedwe're seeing the disintegration of norms that were established by the prior realities of steelwork and knife crafting. Now the bar is set by CAD and CNC. In a real way, Chinese makers are at the vanguard of reshaping what's possible in the market because they're the only ones routinely offering CNC and other high technical manufacturing methods on knives at the budget level. The US and West have been a bit of a captive market for a while and the budget items are supposed to make you really want to spend the money on better ones. And the real importance of it is that because it's budget, it reaches people. Yeah, Reate and Rike and WE get lots of attention among knife people, and they should because they demonstrate manufacturing excellence with tight tolerances and well executed designs. But it's the Lands and Ganzos and Harnds, knives in the same price range as this knife, that I think are going to eventually be what changes peoples' perceptions the most because they're going to be the knives making it into the hands of folks who will then be like '....damn, this is actually a really good pocket knife'. I mean, that's how it worked with me, anyway.

Interesting design, anyone own one or have experience with the manufacturer?

There's a mistake in the details: Blade thickness of 0.1 inch = 0.25 cm = 2.5 mm (and not 4 like mentioned)
