"Airspeed Chronograph Watch" equals "Strap Material: Rubber - Black Silicon"
Hmmm..... Ahhhh.......... Of course!
"And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought, my God... the genius of that!"
A Pilot Watch for a Rainy Day... "Brilliant" :P
I grow more weary of the watch-game with every passing day!
To those who who claim today's prices for this brand and range represent a good deal, I say BS.
I offer as exhibit A, the fact that one can find many of these Revue Thommen Airspeeds listed today on Ashford for $3,500--yet here they on MD, offered for $750-ish (depending on model). I say "listed" on Ashford rather than "selling" on Ashford, because I suspect they are NOT SELLING at $3,500 (anymore than they are selling for $950 on Gemnation) and I also suspect that when MD's ten-day RT Airspeed run is over, Ashford (and any number of grey-market resellers) will miraculously begin selling their RT Airspeed stock again at their usual prices of $650-$750 too. What that pricing indicates is a rotating form of price fixing arguably supported by the primary source of the watches, the bloody manufacturer!Exhibit B is the very definition of what the expression "deal" has come to mean. I say a $3,500 watch selling for $750 is no deal at all--it's selling for it's retail price (cost plus markup). To those who say getting a Valjoux 7750 for $750 is a deal, I say poppycock! Neither Revue Thommen or Valjoux has any incentive for selling product at less than the market will bear and certainly not at a loss. As with the watch, the movement is also selling at its' regular retail price (cost plus markup).
All those other prices (the $3,500s and $950s) are in reality, grossly inflated numbers set to artificially inflate the "regular" or "normal" retail prices we use to gauge the "deal" prices. In other words, we have been and continue to be, DUPED by the game the watch business has been playing on us for years, but recently has taken to truly scandalous proportions, at all levels--from Ingersoll to Rolex, and beyond. Theses days, regardless of the watch, or the price you paid, I say you paid too much for it!
Virtually every watch available today sells for many times its cost to manufacture and sell (yes, there is certainly a cost to selling as well). Watches, like all jewelry have some of the highest markups in retail, and accordingly some of the highest marketing/selling costs to recoup at the point of sale. For instance, you know up front you're paying Brad Pitt and Charlize Theron to wear a Breitling when you buy one, but you're also paying for that damn box, when you buy an Ingersoll! I tend to think of those costs as taxes manufacturers make you pay, before the government gets their turn.
Now, I would never criticize you for buying a Breitling (I like 'em okay too), or even for buying this frightfully unattractive Revue Thommen Airspeed--those are personal choices, but don't tell me you got a good deal on one!
RayFYes I missed the Chronomat that were offered here... But that one was like 8 grand.
The reason I consider this a deal is because it's pretty hard to get a ⌚ with a Valjoux inside for this price, no matter the brand. The only exceptions may be the Ferrari Pilota you love as much as I do... The Tourneau ⌚ we've been getting here, or maybe a Bulova Accuswiss (if you can still get one)
The quality of this ⌚ seems good, maybe the brand has not that huge recognition but these are good ⌚ so if you like the looks and are feeling frugal, this is the way to go.
Of course all the prices are sold way above the cost, maybe we need another quartz revolution to get better prices. The smartwatches were a possibility but it just didn't happened...
chrono avenger on a budget. Good price for the 7750 but RT is almost non existent which hurts the value. I’d be curious to handle one though. Probably get one if it was sub $700s and closer to $600.
No doubt I prefer eta they treat me good i had a bad experience with a sw500 but I might buy another sellita in a muhle glashutte or something like that
ED61Mühle Glashütte is a good approach, honestly I've never considered these because the Sellita 😔 of the movement was ETA I would likely have one by now
This is a very good deal ✅ this ⌚ is clearly similar to a Breitling.
The movement isn't highly decorated and I don't like that you must ✂️ the band to fit 😰 (I'd rather swap it) but it's 🆗️...

ErikSAnd one item that also should be changed...
the ugly rubber strap.
I would prefer to have a quality nato strap on this watch (if it needs to fit in a 499 dollar budget).
I like the dial quite a bit, but don’t care for the Breitling-esque bezel. Never been a fan of the raised indices. A cleaner, more two dimensional looking bezel would compliment this watch beautifully.
