There needs to be more clarity as to the actual price; it says there is a $19 discount at checkout, but I’m seeing $91 plus shipping. There is an “activate credit” button, but tapping it does nothing. It also says activate credit in the checkout screen, but there is no $19 discount. There seems to be no communication from DROP in this thread. Also, requests for the 2.5mm version seem to have fallen on deaf ears. Overall, communication from DROP seems to have faltered on the whole site.
rantngI bought the tape on a previous drop and it was pictured with a 2.5mm with adapters and that’s what I got. It didn’t have the $19 discount though.
They say: "Note: This product is eligible for a $19 discount at checkout. "
Per their wording price should decrease another $19 at the checkout.
I remember other times where they have done the same and it worked that way.
GoodOutcomeLook, I'm not here to argue with semantics here. Drop probably forget to change the text, so what? The discount is still there, and now people won't whine after just looking at the price and complaining 'there's no discount'.
I don’t really understand this drop. The one I bought was pictured with a 2.5mm balanced cable and did in fact come with a 2.5mm balanced cable and adapters. This one is pictured with a 3.5mm SE cable and is specified as such. I hesitate to order more sets as gifts.
Are these really Electret instead of Electrostatic? Difference? (Not familiar with, those technologies are exotica for most Headphone Nerds) (Post here so the other DROP buyers can see it, and, please don't say "do your research." This isn't FB.
VNTG-4UElectret as far as I'm concerned.
The main difference is the moving membrane is pre-charged on electrets, but electrostatic membranes has to be charged actively with high voltage (hence why you need an energizer to drive electrostatic headphones). Electrets' membranes are pre-charged, so they can be driven off regular amps.
Think of an electret as a cheaper cousin to a true electrostatic.
SteveeeeI own them, and uh, kind of?
The white grill are definitely vents, and you can kinda here some sound leaking from the vents (but only if you're putting your ears next to them).
Overall, sound leakage isn't an issue at all, but they don't isolate as well as other IEMs.
NEXONUSThanks! I don’t mind sound leaking in since if I’m wearing them outside it’s better to have some awareness to the surrounding. Just don’t want to be the obnoxious person who’s earbuds leak like crazy.
