This is my 1st jacket with down in 25 yrs. Always been weary of micro-puffs, but this jacket changed my mind. After a couple minutes of wearing it, I felt like I had a hot iron next to my torso! WOW! I can only imagine how well this works layered up. The cuff design is GREAT! The hood...I wear a basebal cap and/or an outer layer with adjustable hood; I have no issues. Just FYI...I "traced my down" per the tag attached to the jacket; it's actually rated at 850-fill! I suppose if you understate the truth, you'll be happy with the results. In this case, ecstatic! Two things that I feel are cons...I measure a 46" chest and order XL. This thing is HUGE on me. I really need the large if I'm gonna layer. HUGE! Next, PLEASE put up instructions(Sierra Designs) on how to pack down into LF pocket. I tried several fold patterns but ALL left me feeling as though I would rip the zipper/seams apart. Overall, for the low price point, you can't go wrong.

Awesome deal! Drop said 800 fill but arrived with verified traceable 825 down. Wearing it as I review this jacket sitting on the front porch drinking an adult beverage! Only thing cold is my nose and the beverage! Absolutely can’t wait to do some winter hiking on the AT this year! If it drops again don’t wait buy it!

I bought this jacket last year and it quickly became my daily driver. One of my favorite drops so far. + Fit is perfect: I'm 5' 9", 165lbs, 39" chest, and between a small or a medium in most brands. I took a Medium in this to leave a little room for layering; at this size, the jacket is comfortable, but not baggy. + Insulation is great. This keeps me warm with just a normal t-shirt underneath well into the 40's in low-activity. It's also fairly wind resistant which helps protect you on those cold, blustery days. + Those cuffs are truly a great innovation. They seal off your wrists without crushing the down, and make it easy to pull the sleeves back a bit when you need full access to your hands. + That chest pocket comes in handy way more often than you'd think. It's perfectly located and easy to find/open, even with gloves on. There's really only a few things that could be improved, if we're being nit picky.
  • The DWR on the jacket is just okay. It's bead up water through a short misting, but for any real precip it'll quickly wet out and lose warmth. The DriDown may dry faster but don't expect it to keep you warm when wet.
  • The hood/yoke design actually leaves too much room around the neck. The extra space means that the hood does not rotate with your head when you look side to side, and allows a little bit of air to leak in when wind's blowing directly in your face. Other jackets I have from Rab and Black Diamond do a much better job here.
  • The spandex lined internal pocket is for light storage only. You can keep your gloves in there, but anything heavy will stretch out the pocket and jumble around.

Best Jacket I own. Honestly. Super lightweight. Super warm. Being down, I'd avoid getting this jacket wet to avoid any scenario that you lose your insulation value, but otherwise this thing is the bee's knees. I wear this jacket alone, with only a t shirt at times, and I'd say I'm comfortable that way down to about 15-20 degrees F. After that point, I'll throw on a thermal shirt or something of that nature, but otherwise you're good to go. I bought my first one about 6 months ago, and today just picked up a second one for myself as well as one for my wife. So far, all the Sierra Designs products I've purchased have been top notch. Even their sleeping bags. Highly recommended.

CANADIANS BEWARE Upside great Product. Downside shipping could not be combined so I was delivered two packages and it was shipped through DHL. Customer service on Massdrop was great product is great. The "DEAL" from buying here was not so good. Each package was stung with a $46 Fees and Brokerage into Canada and Taxes. long story short this $94 Jacket ended up costing me $190.42CND and the post office here was stuck on I had to pay or send back that min. I couldn't leave it with while trying to reach out for customer service at Mass drop. This is not Mass Drops problem with my post office. This was my wife's birthday present and to say the least this is the First time she is pissed off at me for a Bday present. Her new rule no more ordering from Massdrop or USA. I have had two recent dealings with DHL and both similar. My Toaks Titanium pot and stove were $72 USD and buy the time I had it they cost me over $150 CND. Better off ordering from Amazon.ca

SPANKY74Thanks for the heads up. I was wondering about that. I know that as soon as they use a courier instead of usps they put it through customs no matter what the item costs. That way the couriers get the extra brokerage fee as well. My son won a free pair of shoes in a skate contest and by the time they were shipped from the USA via FedEx they were almost $50.

Three years strong, still kicking
I've definitely put my fair share of miles on this both thru day hikes and backpacking trips and it's held up great, no tears or down leak.

Excellent!
This is now my “go to” cold weather jacket. Fred mid layer. Packs easily. Weighs almost nothing. And the wrist gators were a great addition.

Very light and Very warm
Love this jacket. Been hiking through snow with it and has kept me warm. Cuts the wind out and I like the inner arm sleeves that provide a complete seal with gloves. Bought two of these jackets.

Lightweight and very warm
I don't wear this very often as the weather is temperate where I live but when I do need to, it always keeps me warm and is lightweight. It also folds into a pocket to make storage easy. I'm a bit worried about all the down feathers that poke through the fabric though.

This puffy has kept me warm on a lot of trips. Relatively light and fits well. Has leaked a little bit of down though.
