If it helps anyone decide, I shot a review of this last year. In short, it is dead quiet, even with IEMs and has good power delivery with full-sized headphones. The main negative is the need to bypass the input caps to get the best sound quality from it.

I had both. I found the Jot 2 to have a thicker sound with better dynamics. Overall, my main headphones (Focal Clear, Hifiman HE6SE, Audeze LCDXC) had better synergy with the J2 as well. I sold the Singxer and recently upgraded to the Burson Soloist 3X Reference and I must admit that it's the best solid-state I've heard. Cheers!
Leon1977Yeah definitely Jot 2 for me.
SA-1 isn't bad. More on the gentler and softer side overall, whereas the Jot 2 pushes more dynamics and slam, while remaining very strong in micros as well. I would say also depends on the synergy. The biggest delta between the two is in the bass, and the stark 50% price difference.
I have not heard of the latest Bursons yet. So, no comment.
Currently using a Matrix HPA-3B with opa1656 opamps. Anyone have any experience\comparison between these two? Which of two has a warmer sound? I'd primarily pair it with a hifiman he6se V2 and high impedance vintage Sennheiser cans ranging from 150 - 600 ohm.
rodizzleI have SA-1 (didn't buy from DROP) and he6se V2 and prefer BasX-100 over SA-1 for driving he6se V2. The BasX tames the treble a bit better while providing better bass response.
I have one of these and I can tell you that this amp is `100% the real deal. Best I've heard, period. Im running it off of an Asus Essence One Sparkos ed. Only issue I have is with the volume knob. from 1-10 it barely raises the db's. 10-11 though, that's where the magic happens.

This amp is absolutely fantastic! It is one of the best audio purchases I've ever made. It is a level better than all the THX amps and the Jot 2. It makes everything sound clear but without any etched treble, and the bass response is tight and punchy. And unlike the flat soundstage you get with most amps (especially THX), this one gives you depth to go with its very good width. I love this amp!
PhoneheadfanAs someone who had both the Jot2 & SP400 here with the Schiit Bifrost 2 & Topping D90, Hate to break it to you but the THX SP400 is the better amp in all aspects of sound & ability.
Anyone considering this should just buy from Apos.audio. They will price match and ship it to you instantly and give you an extended 2 year warranty. Also, no sales tax nor any other DROP nonsense!!! I own this amp and it ROCKS! I also own the Jotunheim 2 and they are quite similar, so that's an option, but all of Schiit's site is currently on backorder. Can't go wrong with either, IMO.
Six months later and this product description still fraudulently claims this thing uses tubes. It may have been initially a fault of translation, but the fact that it hasn't been corrected is inexcusable.
Kerry_MaxwellI find it quite bizarre that this is being advertised as a tube amp. I thought maybe my old eyes just couldn't spot them in the cover-off photo, but for instance ROHM is a semiconductor company and does indeed manufacture differential quad op amps, not tubes.
I wish Drop would fix this error, or ask the supplier to fix it.
