hello!
I don't understand I thought the purchase was for the dac AND the pre-amp and I only received the DAC what was the use of the +25$ option then?
dac and amp was the $80 option? it was really unclear....
I didn't understand? who made a mistake?
yes the title was misleading when it said Amp & DAC :)
but no disappointment the dac has a sublime sound and I took the amp headphones elsewhere since it was exhausted here it's a great combo!!
I am now waiting for the HE400 :)
Seb64I'm using the E-MU Teaks and my old trusty koss porpa pros on mine and yes it is sublime. My brother got me the drop for Christmas and let me have it a month early. :D
Warning to all - this is a nice DAC but I was unable to get it to work with Linux or Moode. Kept making static type pops and crackles. Works great with Windows. I bought mine from China, and had to resell on ebay at a loss.
Thanks for the response. I'm going to use the DAC in a similar setup and I'll come back to it when my order arrives.
EDIT:
Everything works just perfectly! I haven't had any issues with the DAC in combination with a Raspberry Pi or any regular Linux distribution on a regular PC.
Hi !
I own this baby since a few months now (Sanskrit pro B DAC). Got it elsewhere in China (AE :)) and my version is specific as it has no BT inside (useless for me).
I can confirm this DAC does NOT use Xmos 32bit on my Windows 7 setup, which is great as I don't like Xmos converting process giving a rather un-natural sound IMO.
the AKM 4490 and his usb chip do provide TRUE and DIRECT 32 bit DSD files decoding without the use of a converting interface as Xmos dac's usually do.
I can confirm this DAC is excellent for the price : soft, slightly warm sound with very good bass extension.
So when I saw the amazing price for the PHA, I jumped on it to complete my Panda stack as I was sure there would not have enough units for everybody here :)
...so within a month I will connect the out rca's of this baby in the MKIII in rca's and will get a tube AND solid state setup with select source option on PHA's main switch !
Best of both worlds for such a few bucks !!!
Just my 2 cents...hope this helps :) enjoy !
Is it possible to get a remote for this system? - I think it would mitigate some of the issues that some claim to have with hitting the right buttons.(Z Reviews) - I personally would use a remote as my primary way of interacting with the system.
I wanted to get the amp with the DAC but now that the amp has sold out is it a good idea for me to just get the DAC and then find another amp for it to go with, say a schiit magni 3?
It just sucks that its sold out and i wonder if i dont buy the DAC (or whatever is left) right now i might have to wait forever to get another drop on these and at this price even just for the DAC it seems too good to pass?
I'm think of driving k712's and potentially HD650's in the future.
Thanks.
ge1987They say that most of the Chi-Fi will have a high output impedance. If its using the TPA6120 then its a sure thing, unless they state otherwise. Generally speaking if a product/manufacturer has low output impedance they will be bragging about it, or so im told. Look at the FiiO K5 they clearly indicate that they have <1 Ohm on their website, same thing with the Objective 2 Amp, etc Then compare it to SMSL PHA, SMSL M6, FX Audio DAC X6/X7, Topping A30.... no info even if you message them on their website.
Planar Magnetic headphones are not as sensitive to output impedance compared to Dynamic, again, as I have read. Output Impedance affects the dampening factor or the movement of the speaker diaphragm, which is not a thing for Planars because of how they produce sound compared to Dyanamic drivers.
So, I totally messed this explanation, but definitely do your own research as others will explain this more coherently than I will ever be able to do so.
Less than 100 sold and is SOLD OUT?
If they were going to have so few of them they should have specify that. Here I'm waiting for my Direct Deposit to kick in and well "GAME OVER MEN, GAME OVER!
Xbar1Hey guys, I bought whatever the $149 package buys you as I am still not sure what that brings lol, but I bought it to test it out and probably will not keep it, unless it blows me away in some way. If any of you wants it, I can ship it out when I am done looking at it for a day or so. Same price + shipping.
vtiwariFrom my research they're comparable. I think the main differences between this stack and the Modi/Magni stack is that the Magni is rated for 600ohm and SMSL one is only 300. Also, the Magni has a volume knob which I think is way better than buttons.
