gearofwar113And the HE4XX aren't 170x times better than a pair of $1 earphones I can pick up. That doesn't mean people should never buy the HE4XX. Completely different again. You cannot say there is no reason to buy one because the other exists.
Camboand which $1 earphone are you mentioning here unless you give me a valid competitor? I'm sure the apple earpod $10 is not getting anywhere close to 20% of HE400i performance which is then 80% of Z1R , and you are paying 11x which is for 20% increase , how does that justify? The point I was trying to make here was how the money should be well spent based on price-to-performance ratio. You can jump from your $1 earbud to HE400i for more than 80% performance with the price of 169 and your money will be well spent rather than spending 1899 for 100% from the Z1R.

Take your pick, I guarantee no matter what you pick the HE4XX wont be an exactly correlated price to performance comparison increase.
Clearly my point went completely over your head which is that price increase isn't a linear correlation to performance. You do have to pay for for quality, but you don't get that price comparison in performance increase. Lets compare any earphone or headphone for that matter of what shows up on there for your country. Pick one thats under $10, The HE4XX won't be exactly 16x better, the HD6XX won't be 20x better and the THX00 won't be 40x better and the MDR-Z1R Headphones wont be 180x better. Because that's just not how it works. The THX00 will have some improvement over the HD6XX but it wont be twice as good, and the MDR-Z1R wont be 4.5x as good as the THX00. They will be better, and it will be a nice improvement. But it wont be $1400 better.
What you do have to remember, is that for high quality products, you have to pay a premium price.
The HD800 headphones are renowned as amazing, so are many other high quality headphones like the TH900, but people still buy them because they are good pairs of headphones, such as these.
CamboI have HD800 and Z1R is not beating HD800's performance for its asking price at all. The premium price tag for Z1R is absurd and it should be priced around 1k instead
gearofwar113I've own a HE-500, which I would have sold would I have not been able to install the newer headband (HE-350 style) on it. If the HE-4xx has the same old headband design, which it seemingly does with some minor improvements (maybe), it would be disqualified purely on the merit of comfort and wearability. In my opinion. Were it not for the headband it would be pretty hard to beat value wise.
