HOLY CRAP. A whistle that works under water?! I mean seriously, how cool is that?! I've order the max amount allowable because this will make for some serious pool fun, not to mention a fantastic survival tool for my upcoming cruise on the SS Poseidon!
Is this worth it? Depends, it's decent quality for the price, but it hasn't replaced my fox 40 sonik. If you want something that looks good then get this, but if you plan on using as a dedicated survival whistle I'd go with the tried and true fox 40.
The quality of this whistle is eh... It's thin walled, very light and drab. It's uninteresting Ti. If you're looking for a "human" whistle to put in your survival camping gear...it's ok. It's loud, it's barely noticeable on a key ring..serves it's purpose. HOWEVER, if you're looking for a widget to carry everyday, something with "flash" and "bang"....keep looking for another Massdrop offering.
Probably one of the best whistles I owned. My girlfriend managed to hear it 2 blocks away in the crowded NY streets.
Too bad it fell into the drain on the street the same day 😑
Hi all - thanks so much for checking our whistles out. We are syked to have them offered to you via Massdrop - keep a look out over the next few weeks for further Titaner gear.
To answer some of the questions flying around here: the training whistle does not go into the ultrasonic range. The whistle geneally hits 262Hz to 1046Hz whilst ultrasonic is over 20000Hz!
Both whistles are also not single piece. Single piece is not possible for our lathe or milling machine. The training whistle has a teflon insert, whilst the survival whistle has an aluminium alloy insert. The inserts do not fall out, especially the aluminium insert, very very tight.
Hope that helps!
Another vote for more information on the construction. Both of the insert and of the animal training whistle.
Edit to add that the training whistle appears to use screw threading to adjust the length of the "resonance chamber" thus affecting pitch.
