Why bother, Drop? The A50 is one of Topping’s worst amps. It measures even worse than the A30, which is not even that great to begin with. This product has been discontinued and it doesn’t even show up in their website anymore.

In the case of A50 it’s not like it was a good product when it came out and now newer products are better. The A50 was never a good product to begin with. It shouldn’t have never been made in the first place. It doesn’t compete well with anything at the $100 price range. $80 would be a fair price, not $157.

iucoenMoney is money. It costs next to nothing to put it up on the website as long as topping has stock. Drop is a middleman and they dont need to hold stock for long.

This is a good deal! Too bad I'm broke.
XnightcrawlIf it was the A50S maybe. The regular A50 isn't really that great.

postwarscarsMy bad. Commented too fast. I thought this was the A50S.

I am sure this will measure well, but the output impedance may be high like other topping products, so there are probably better options.

Considering atom and sp200 is in the market, even if the A50 measure as good as those, I still think those would be better choice. A budget goodness atom, or THX Hype with the SP200.

MaximAuWhy though? If this unit measures just as well, it fall in the middle cost wise. I would put it above the Atom from build alone. The Atom is cheap and feels as such, despite measureing well. Paying $50 more here for a metal chassis and better volume pot and 2.5mm output, well worth the upcharge IMO as long as it measures just as well. The SP200 is twice the cost of this so unless you need the power for hard to drive planars or cans, their really isn't a point.

jaydunndidditThe output impedance on the A50 makes is a deal breaker imo. 4.7 is way way too high for a solid state amp. Its almost 10 on the balanced input! If build quality is a concern you can get a Magni Heresy for 99 bucks thats build is as good as this or better and it puts out infinitely more power than this. I see no reason to buy this over a Heresy unless you just really really want balanced or want to match it to a D50 for looks.

2.5mm for sensitive IEM ?

It shouldn't be causing distortion. Output impedance should mostly be changing your frequency response.

MaOdAI wouldn't for a few reasons: -A: Sensitive IEM's rarely need balanced as they are sensitive and dont need the extra power. -B: The output impedance of this amplifier is quite high and is double on the balanced output which means that it's going to affect your frequency response. It might make the frequency response sound better it might make it sound worse. -C: On top of the high output impedance making the frequency response change, it also reduces the damping factor which in extreme cases means overly resonant-mids, ringy-highs and boomy-bass. However it is probably not going to be super noticeable but it will definitely be there. -D: The noise floor is higher on the balanced output which in combination with sensitive IEM's will be extremely obvious.

I like the multi-output support. The product desciption says portable?
gyroscopicsPortable as in small. No battery built in.

gyroscopicsIt's more like "transportable", not "usable while out and about"!

Topping is really afraid of <1 ohm output impedance, huh
The IEMatch works wonders. For super hissy and sensitive IEMs like the Solaris or Andromeda, it does its job and more on all my amps. I use it a lot with my tube amps so I can use my IEMs and sensitive headphones without issues or changes.
