$424.15 seems to be the current Black Friday price. You can find it for the same price from Topping authorized sellers such as Apos audio and Shenzhen audio (both their own site and their Amazon store). Also those store will ship out much sooner than Drop.
Though Drop is not a bad option if you shop here enough to make good use of the rewards points.
I'm using this for both headphones and its my 2:2 preamp. I use both the RCA outs to my subs and the xlr outs to my amps. One oddity is that the gain setting also affects the preamp outs.
I'm using this with Dan Clark/Massdrop ether CX, Dan Clark Aeon2 closed, and Hifiman Ananda open.
Sounds fantastic, like the massdrop thx 789, its wire + gain.
I bought a A90/D90 stack from Apos.
I switched from the D90 to a Denafrips Pontus II and it does the r2r dac justice too.
Anyone knows how this compares against a Violectric V200?
I drive my Audeze LCD2s with the violectric and the sound is perfect but I am finding a strange itch after seeing this drop.
It's $450 at Amazon and $445 from Shenzhen Audio direct (Coupon: shenzhenaudio5) right now. I think the sale ends on the 2nd. It's up to the buyer on whether buying from drop is worth $15 extra dollars in loyalty points, let alone loyalty points to start with.
disturbingThat's the problem unless Drop Rewards Points are the most important consideration for the purchase, I don't see any reason to buy this Amp on Drop.
disturbingI went through the Drop nightmare almost exactly a year ago with both the A90 and the D90. Ordered both with shipping dates almost two months in the future. Drop collected my money at once. After patiently waiting, like clockwork, one day after the shipping date I got their Oops! emails: "Due to an unexpected delay, these orders may ship later than the original estimated ship date." They refused to give me a firm new date, so I requested refunds and never bought anything from them again. Went to Apos, got one of the units in a few days. For the other, they told me they mistakenly listed it as "in stock" but that I'd have to wait a few more days. And as an apology they knocked $50 off the sale price.
