Product Description
Praised on Head-Fi as a great value DAC to build a system around, the Topping D30 is easy to use and easy to love. It features the highly regarded Cirrus Logic CS4398 DAC chip—along with WIMA, EPCOS, and Nichicon FW capacitors and the OPA2134 high-fidelity opamp—and supports DSD64, DSD128, and PCM formats up to 24 bit/192 kHz Read More

I know it is slightly cheaper than E30. But I think the improvement of E30 over D30 is significant and you also get a functional remote. :)
On the other hand, if budget is tight, D10, SMSL m100 or SDAC are all solid choices. D30 at this point is just not attractive to most.

Please, do not take me wrong, I appreciate all the Chinese manufacturers efforts, I use and like older FiiO players (not new ones), I like shanling M0 very much or xDuoo digital transport, even half baked Hidizs AP200. However, DACs and head phones (mostly) are not up to the European or US products (in the same price range) - DACs like Chord, CEntrance or iFi, phones from Beyerdynamic, Sennheiser or Grado, even cheapest like Beyerdynamic Soul Byrd sound much better than almost any ChiFi, as exception is Dunu (like DN2000j). After getting bunch of Chinese IEMs DACs I finally gave up trying and gave away most of that stuff. Yes, I tried Topping also but they lifeless and flat, lack excitement, went away to someone. Simplest CEntrance DACport HD beats them all. On the positive side - Chinese tube amps could be pretty good but I guess these are very mature technology:).
Expand on that? I've been using a D30 for the better part of a year and it's been working great for me.
Now, it's the first hardware dac I've ever used so I don't have much to compare it to but to say it's bad..?
I got an email today asking to share about my D30 and A30 that I bought from massdrop 2 years ago. Unfortunately the A30 has completely died a few months back. Sadly I can't recommend it due to this.
jormichopUpdating this in case anyone happens to ever see it. I don't know why but the A30 is suddenly working again. Not sure what happened but I guess I can recommend it now?
Alfredo3001I just bought one on amazon since I want to see how it performs. Cost me $110. It was worth the extra five bucks to have the better return policy. Drop return policies are not real user friendly IMO.
