Can anyone explain me those PCM filters included into the Topping DX7s:
Mode 1 Apodizing fast roll-off filter
Mode 2 Minimum phase slow roll-off filter
Mode 3 Minimum phase fast roll-off filter
Mode 4 Linear phase slow roll-off filter
Mode 5 Linear phase fast roll-off filter
Mode 6 Brick wall filter
Mode 7 Correction minimum phase fast roll-off filter
What does each one?
Which one should i use ?
Is there a best one ?
I don't believe these are in the DX7S, just the SMSL SU8?
there are. You can reach them by reaching back to the device power switch. Power it off. Hold the round know infront pressed and switch the power from behind. The screen with the settings will appear.
Go for #7. Minimum phase is the way to go
Ty ill try it out. I thought that Apodizing fast roll-off filter was the way to go but maybe i was wrong.
Ill start reading. Thank you for the reply <3
Apodizing filter is the fad these days. That’s probably why it’s the default option though the differences between the filter settings are quite subtle. You have to listen deep and long enough to pick them out. I find #5 Linear phase fast roll off to be the most forward sounding and fatiguing and #7 the least digital and most organic sounding. Listen to songs with lots of kick drums and electric guitar solos and avoid modern digital music when tuning cos digital music supposed to sound.. digital anyway.
