Got mine today. Fantastic! Pretty large, very tall. 7" wrist. On a 23mm NATO.

Edit: the first 48hrs with the VSA AIRBOSS mach 7 ---
Heft: Never having owned a "large" watch, it's size and weight were a surprise. It's noticeably heavy, and quite pronounced on the wrist. Not a con or anything. A few millimeters difference between bog standard 38-42mm and this 45 doesn't sound like a lot, but it's quite noticeable in reality.
Accuracy: +5s/d on the wrist
Alignment: I noticed a problem with minute alignment at first, this appears to be a problem with minute alignment when setting. If you roll forward to the time when setting the watch there appears to be some slack in the movement that takes around 30 seconds to pick up. I.e. The minute hand doesn't move at all for ~30 seconds after setting. Leaving the minute hand behind by roughly half at the top of the minute.
Thankfully there is an easy fix, simply roll back to the time you want and there is no slack to pick up. Go past the time by a minute or two, then roll back to the desired time and alignment. The minute hand will begin moving immediately when time keeping leaving no misalignment.
Sweep: The Valgranges A07.111 exhibits the same stuttering second hand sweep issue as the Valjoux calibre 7750 it's based on. It's minute, and only the most OCD of us will notice it. Once noticed though, you can't unsee it.
Internal bezel: The internal bezel has nearly no resistance, it's very easy to move. There are no clicks or stops. While this makes it easy to adjust, it also moves quite a bit throughout the day. It doesn't move on its own, no amount of movement or flinging of hands causes it to move. But simply putting on a jacket will typically cause it to move when the fabric of the sleeve runs along the bezel crown. If you're OCD you'll spend some time realigning it daily. Day 1 I fidgeted and fixed it when noticed. Day 2 I left it alone, full day of wear and sleeping with it, the alignment in the morning was 7 ticks off.
Date: Alignment and position thus far seems spot on. It appears to roll over around 2300-0100.
Dial: Hands and applied markers have the same brushed steel look as the case, but brighter. On the wrist these brushed elements play with the light quite a bit in a pleasing way. It's quite nice.
Lume is rather interesting. The hour arabics are subdued somehow compared to the marks and hands, being roughly half as bright. But they don't fade any earlier. 8hrs of darkness and all aspects are still legible with night adjusted vision while maintaining the subdued look of the arabics.
Overall the dial fit and finish is exquisite and very legible. It's a great EDC field watch.
--- Update: 3 months wrist time ---
Durability: No scratches on either crystal. One very small nearly unnoticeable scratch on the bezel from banging a wall. No other perceptible blemishes. It's tough.
Accuracy: Still +5s/d, though I don't wear it to bed anymore.
Heft: I'm a large man (6'5", 270lbs) with an average 7.25" wrist, I've had no problems tucking it under a shirt or jacket cuff. It doesn't get in the way, or bang walls any more or less prominently than other watches. After you get used to it, your other watches will feel noticeably small and light.
Lume:

It's hard to tell due to the intense UV light blasting the white balance of the camera, but the applied arabics glow a distinct blue under UV light in contrast to the bright green indicators marks. This is comparable to the daylight observation that the applied arabic lume is a bright white and the indicator marks a light green.
In daily use the lume picks up enough light in a dim office environment to provide legible quick time reference in a dark car at night.
Legibility: I've not yet found a situation where the face isn't legible. This is due to the awesome anti-reflective crystal and the great contrast between the bright lume, brilliant applied arabics, and intense white printed indicator marks vs the matte black dial and bezel.
This is contrary to other watches (notably dress watches) where low light, reflections, and high contrast situations can render the dial indiscernible.
Overall, I've nothing to quibble about this watch. It's a truly fantastic field watch worthy of any collection.

neoaeonIt's listed as an automatic. Does it also allow for hand winding?

WChrisYes. In the default crown setting (all the way in) rolling the crown clockwise (forward) winds the watch. If it's been sitting and stopped, wind it about 30 times to get it going, then wear it. No need to "shake" it.

Amazon had the Mach 7 on sale as part of Prime Day last Tuesday for $299 also. Now it's back up to $399; the Mach 4 was not part of the deal. I was waiting for them to put up the Mach 4, but they never did, and it's the same price here as the Mach 7 was on Prime Day, so it's tempting, but I'm tired of the whole FedEx SmartPost/DHL Global Mail-wait for a month and a half thing...

The last drop I participated in was for the Glycine Combat Sub. FedEx handed off to the USPS, and in their infinite "wisdom", they decided to send it via sea barge to its final destination in Puerto Rico!!! 22 freaking days!!! That's why I keep asking MassDrop to add an extra fast shipping charge... the USPS won't charge more than $15 for Priority Mail service for a small package. Unfortunately, Jonas seems to be the only MD employee that rutinely answers user posts.

JakeRobertsThat is very unfortunate. Waiting 22 days for a package... I can only imagine. I also think USPS would deliver this way quicker.

This is nice. But I'm going to go broke with all these drops recently. Have to get rid of some of the older watches I have.

I need to stop looking at watches online. I've bought 2 in the past month, a Victorinox and a Skagen. They're both nice at their price point. But this is a higher end watch for not a lot more money.... I'm so tempted but I probably shouldn't spend any more money right now.

KangTheMadI purchased the watch, and it's honestly worth the price. It is a durable, and is a watch that can go with any outfit. I can wear it to a casual outing or my army uniform.

Here's an idea for all the Airbosses out there :-) Deployant clasp! Have it from the factory on my Alpnach, got this one from china/ebay/whatever. Good quality, $6.99. Looks great, and will prolong the life of the strap if you like it. Be sure to get a 20mm one because the original strap tapers from 22mm->20mm.
All the best!

The 20mm will fit but snug. It won't damage the bracelet. I have it on mine. 21mm will probably be loose.

Micky99Thanks for the reply. There may be a slight difference in the widths of our claps that makes the difference. If the buckle that I purchased was 0.2mm wider, it would fit (albeit snugly). The way it stands now, the clasp bends and cracks the strap. Any chance you can paste the link to shop where you got yours from?

My Mach 4 arrived today, August 1; the receipt indicates it was shipped July 26, and the shipping label indicates UPS Smartpost (or whatever it's called), which means it came USPS. I have purchased many new watches from professional retail vendors over the years, and don't recall any of them arriving USPS, except for perhaps very low-priced watches. MD should have shipped via regular UPS or FedEx, the latter I believe being the most common method.
Regarding the watch itself: I really really like it. I love large mechanical wristwatches, and this one is special. The mainspring must be gargantuan, because it took about a million turns of the crown to fully wind it...so many that I was beginning to think there was something wrong. It's beautiful. The strap is very nice, and will fit a wrist of up to approximately 8.5 inches comfortably.
The watch and strap look absolutely brand new.
However, and here's where something isn't quite right. I called Victorinox U.S.A. watch customer service, 800-442-2706, and inquired about a few things. There is a slot in the box for the instruction booklet; however, it's not there, just a small slip of paper advising owners to look online. There is the customary protective clear plastic cover on the face of the watch, but not on the back.
According to V. customer service, ALL of the Mach 4's include the instruction booklet and the plastic covers on the case AND on the back of the watch.
I'm not sure I would have bought the watch if I had known about this. Yes, I love the watch, yes, I'm being picky, and yes, it looks brand spanking new. But based on what V. told me however, I'm wondering if these watches are "B" quality, rejects, or something else.
I will wear it every day for the next 30 days and make sure it's absolutely perfect. If I have the slightest doubt, I will send it back. And I will think twice and thrice about buying another watch from MD.
I have two questions for Massdrop: why is there no instruction booklet, and why is there no plastic cover on the back?

cgalnyI didn't even get any papers at all with mine or even the paper you speak of. Nor did it have a tag on it which i thought was strange. Anyone else?

I'm very reticent about ordering watches from MD without a warranty. I've purchased a couple of other minor items that turned out well, but no watches. Many of MD's watch "drops" aren't particularly good values, with or without a warranty, but I could not resist the Mach 4, even with no warranty.
This is an old school, manual wind, large, heavy, substantial watch with a very robust Unitas 6497 movement, which alone is worth about as much as the whole watch. So while I still don't understand MD's unwillingness to offer warranties on all their watches...I made an exception in this case and ordered a Mach 4. I could not find anyone else selling a new one for anywhere near this price, even though all the other professional vendors offered warranties. This Unitas movement rarely goes wrong, and any decent watchmaker can work on it easily and relatively inexpensively. As long as you have a wrist size of at least 7 inches, in my opinion this watch will look great on your wrist.
And be aware it's manual wind.

MD supplies no warranty on this, and many, if not most, watches. Instead, they offer a 30-day return policy, which is basically a 30-day warranty of sorts. But it's not adequate.
What worries me is that these non-warranty watches may be second quality, or even returns, that are being sold by their manufacturers to MD, with new boxes, etc.
Also, the one month delay in shipping really is a pain in the neck. This delay makes me wonder even more if these are first-quality, brand new watches.
But I decided to take the risk this time. Only because of the very good price, and my fondness for 6497 movements and also for Victorinox. I will be checking the watch very carefully when it arrives, and for 30 days, to make sure it's perfect...something I would not need to do so soon with a legitimate warranty.

cgalnyThe caliber is 6498-2 TOP grade. It has 56 hours of reserve and Glucydur wheel. This is the reason why this watch is a real bargain.

My Mach IV finally arrived and i pretty happy with it despite the 'nice' customs bill and delay. Antone else noticed the warranty card isn't stamped though. Does that mean there is no manufacturers warranty only Massdrops ??
