The latest from WE Knife, the 713 “Sea Monster” is about as aggressive looking as it gets. It will catch your eye on looks alone, but it’ll draw even more attention for its abilities Read More
I'm glad to see not 1 was purchased. Maybe they won't waste our time anymore with ridiculous drops that are worthless. I thought the point of this website was to get a great deal on stuff.
fakenam3See, there's this thing we like to call "subjectivity" where what you think looks better might not be what everybody thinks looks better. For example, I think that this one looks better than the 716. How about that?
This is not a great deal. Blade hq has these for $253 so if theres a problem with it blade hq will back you 100%. A good price on massdrop that would sell quite a bit would be $199 I'll be surprised if more than 10 are purchased on this drop.
It's not too bad looking, but why such a tiny blade? I'd rather get 2-ZT0350's for around the same price ... one for each hand ... same size blade, more practical, IMO anyhow.
I really hope you are not paying upwards of $300 for a ZT 0350 :-) They go for around 110-120 on average, and are a definite must-have. They are also one of the few remaining ZT knives not insanely expensive. MAP pricing is almost entirely to blame there though.
perlhkrI actually have a 0350 with the tiger striped blade, I bought that the week it came out for a little under 200. That model is pretty old now. But the ZT's I buy are 250 and up
Sorry to see that WE has followed Spyderco's lead and don't really give you a discount. This is the same price as retailers and you won't have to wait.
The Sea monster is a love it or hate it design (mostly a hated). Many of WE's designs are like that. I like the fact that they offer each model in a variety of colors. You rarely have to mod a WE. They do it for you. As for overpriced, I'm not buying that. When WE came onto the scene, they were selling their knives for $300. Most models are now around $250. Their budget line gives you 3D milled G-10, D2 steel, ceramic bearings, titanium hardware and clip for $100. You have to admit that a Delica in FRN and VG-10 at $75 is outrageous when you look at Real Steel, Bestech and Ruike knives. Many Spyderco's too are beyond ugly. That Tighe Stick was a monstrosity. It was originally over $400. At that price, I'd get a Chris Reeve knife. I do like that Spyderco has some nice sprint runs and experiments with different steels, but most of their knives are just plain overpriced. I just got the WE Eschaton (only 700 CF's made) and the Zeta (only 700 made) and I believe they will fetch a premium in the future. I agree most aren't hugely collectible because they are still in production. I truly believe Spyderco and Benchmade will suffer from their unjustified price increases and inferior materials in an increasingly competitive market. Have a good weekend. I enjoyed the talk.
rtd210I don't think I went out of my way. In any case this design provokes very strong feelings for me.
