I got the alcantara version of these pads several days ago and I have a couple impressions:
On the "overview" page they advertise these with "slow-rebound memory foam" But, while they may have memory foam, I do not find it to be particularly slow-rebounding memory foam, at first glance they were barely distinguishable from regular foam.
They aren't angled earpads like the pads for the TH/TR X00 series, which I guess makes sense because the stock TH-900 pads aren't angled, but they do taper a bit at the top (or bottom depending on which way you rotate the pad) where the seam is, which is a bit odd but I guess it's supposed to be what is mentioned in the description that they "contour" to your head.
The alcantara itself feels nice, I wonder if it would be even better if they made perforated versions.
Hello, sorry for all the questions. Just want to make sure before I purchase, I'm curious as to is there any reason why the ear pad is designed to angle from top to bottom? Thanks!
Roll1I was going to ask if you guys know how this effects the sound, because so far ALL the 3rd party pads I've tried affects the sound negatively in one way or another.
But the official Yaxi website has comparison chart so it looks promising, though I'm assuming it was optimized for TH900 and TH610, so trying it on any other headphones means you're sorta on your own.
Very good find though!
EDIT: Forgot to mention dimensionally it reminds me a lot of Eikon pad, which supposed to have good results on most Fostex headphones.
After Tax, these are only less than $2 cheaper than if you order from Yaxi's site (which doesn't charge tax and has free shipping as well).
So save 2 bucks to get it over a month later, I guess.
CbombI don't understand why such basic information is hard to come by. The compatibility list is nice and all, and I can kinda guess what the dimensions are from those, but I really shouldn't have to guess.
I ordered some leathers anyway and I'll post measurements when I get them.
You guys may want to indicate this works with the newer TR-X00 series, since the TH-X00 has basically been retired. Just want to avoid confusion for the newbies.
Additionally, can anybody comment on how these pads might impact sound signature with the variations of the TH/TR-X00? I've been avoiding replacement pads for my TH-X00 Purpleheart because I like the sound signature. But I do think the comfort could be improved.
XephyrothWhy would they need to designate if they "work" with the TR-X00 series? These are pads, the new TR series didn't change anything having to do with pads.
