The mid-level earbuds from Yuin, the PK2s are a pair of modest champions, packing superb sound into a relatively simple-looking enclosure. Mike from Headfonia says it best: "Yuin takes the tonality of an analog, vacuum-tube system Read More
I wanted the PK1 . Anyone know if PK1 has ever been offered on Massdrop? I contacted Massdrop directly and was told chances are low they will offer it but anyone else interested if they do?
Given that I've used a parametric eq on 99 headphones so far (on my dalethorn website and reviews on several sites), and gotten extremely good results, I'd say the fix is golden.
Totally agree with you. Yuins are great, and have been my go-tos for years. Also, check out the Blue Ever Blues on here once in awhile, and Edifier P180 (not available on Massdrop).
Actually ended up getting them yesterday. These are good. Not amazing, but good for the price, I guess. First time getting these that wasn't just a pair of iPhone earphones or something. I'm mainly using them at work for Grooveshark because I'm afraid to take my T1's to work (not to mention I'd have to drag my amp in with me). Too bad the laptop at work has a terrible audio out port. Hissing and everything under the sun, probably horrible DAC. Isn't doing a good job with these. I do also like how they aren't in-ear. Those bother me. I wonder how much better the PK1's are.
Edit: Actually these have grown on me, they're pretty darn good for the price. They seem to evolve a bit with time. Good soundstage and everything.
StoleMyOwnCarYeah, I was slightly unimpressed with them initially as well (I used the PK3 for years prior), but they definitely seem to open up with use. Now, I'm not one of those who believes in burn in, but somehow they definitely sound better now than when brand new.
gogogadget99If only the cord didn't devolve with time so much!
Mine still work fine in situations where I'm sitting still, but I'm going to go ahead and warn everyone: THE CORD SUCKS. When I'm walking around, I hear a very regular "bip" in my left earpiece that happens with my footsteps (like a very obvious voltage disconnect). I have to try to screw with the cord to get it in a position where it stops doing that, and it's making them neigh unusable on my daily hour long walks, so I'm already looking for a replacement.
A replacement that sounds similar, anyway. The sound signature on these is pretty spot on. Weak bass, but generally good everywhere else. They do well with David Garrett and orchestral-ish pieces and whatnot.
The drivers are the same distance away from your ear drums. It's just with IEMs the housing extends into your ear canal. IEMs do have better soundstage due to being better quality and more expensive in general.
Nick_MagsThey are very generic in that aspect. You can use foam pads they come with, so they get a bit better.
On the other hand I can't name too many non-IEM headphones that are particularly comfortable anyway.
Been an avid user of IEMs for a while but now that I have received these, I can honestly say that these are best sounding earphones I've ever owned (overtook the UE Triple.Fi 10 for my favorite earphones).
One thing I am worried about, though, is the crappy headphone jack. Then again, when and if they do break, I'll just take the PK2 to an audio shop and have them re-cabled with something better.
Very pleased.
Great, great price.
Sure, I got 3 more pairs last week... they all sound the same. I hope you guys realize that aliexpress is owned by Yahoo, right? I have personally ordered over 11 grand of goodies from their site, and I have actually had a better buyer experience than on eBay. If identity theft is a concern, then I guess that's on you for not having lifelock or something.
Hit me up at seraphicmotion@gmail.com (my spam address) and I'll shoot a pair over to you... I have been taking the drivers out of the headphones, btw, and mounting them in nicer, more comfortable housings. I can shoot you info to a seller on aliexpress that has a housing that is super sexy and conforms to Lewicki requirements. It is the only headphone I have ever used that doesn't seal the canal, but still extends below 60hz. That is important to me because I got an ear infection last year from my JH Laylas that developed into a brain infection lol.
Take care and have a nice day.
