The wonky pads CAN be swapped, everyone!
Just peel the old pads off. They're just adhesived on. I used a guitar pick but a butter knife would work.
Pads that turn them into real over ears would be brainwavz normal "large round" (not the xl) they just slip over and fit and feel souch nicer.
Also, the titanium driver version (all the rose gold versions have this) are far, far less picky about amps, I can happily run them without an amp at all, and they also like a nice digital amp and a tube as well.
They're intense sounding. In a good way. Super fun sound with unbelievably clean, punchy bass and very articulate treble. I love them as my commuter headphones. Utter steal at $150 or less.
SmestarZThe titanium driver , as far as I can tell, doesn't change the sound appreciably. It DOES, however, make them infinitely less temperamental about amps
Testing them now, they're bass heavy out the gate, but with a much more noticeably wide sound-stage than other closed-backs (Meze 99s). Sound clarity is suprisingly okay, waiting for the headphones to balance out as other reviewers have mentioned. The only thing I'm concerned about is that there is only one cable on the market that sells a balanced cable that can support these drivers (dual 2.5mm to 4.4mm) but I'm worried they won't fit (Youkamoo 4.4mm Cable Compatible for Hifiman HE400S). Does anyone have a suggestion for the cable? If they don't fit then I'll be pretty dissatisfied as a lossless connection could potentially push these over the edge for me.
BowiebutBlondeAfter reaching out to Hart Audoi (modular cables), they are aware of the required slim 2.5mm connectors and can make custom cables. I originally bought their "off the shelf" dual 2.5mm cables, but found they didn't fit. After inquiring, they allowed me to send them back for exchange. I'll provide an update once I receive the replacement.
Just got the cables today and they work great. I have a friend with a pair of Sennheiser HD 700 and I imagine these should work for them as well. I'll try to confirm this and provide and update.
I don't know... looks kind of cheap. Wonder why Maserati didn't collaborate with 1 More, like FOCAL did with Bentley. I wonder how they sound. Going over to reviews.
"Driver", by the very nature of the word, implies an active element. How can a "Bass Reflector", a passive component, be called a Driver? We don't call Passive Radiators "Drivers". I'm not saying these don't sound great, and aren't a fantastic deal, just that abusing terminology for the sake of sounding more impressive technically than your product actually is doesn't engender a great deal of respect from people who know technology, it just impresses the rubes.
I wasn't objecting to there BEING a passive radiator, I was objecting to making the claim that a REACTIVE element like a passive radiator was being called a "Driver"...
Question to those who joined the previous run: Does your retail box have Chinese or English characters in the description?

The rose-gold color is common to both Asian and EU versions of this model, so I'm trying to figure out if DROP sells the Asian or EU version here.
ArjestinHi ! This has full US english on the box, NOT as your picture. It is the European version that never made it to the US (gold color) but Drop exclusively brought it over for the US!
