Compared with most Ball watches, the Engineer II Chronometer automatic is relatively straightforward. A 40-millimeter timepiece, it combines the heritage feel that Ball executes so well with the more minimal look that’s become so wildly popular of late. The white dial has vertical wood-like paneling throughout and slim markers at each hour. Each marker is fitted with a tritium-filled gas tube, a self-powered source of illumination that can last for up to 25 years. Housed within the stainless steel case is a Ball RR1102-C 25-jewel movement that’ll tick for up to 38 hours on a full charge. This chronometer-certified movement is extremely accurate, and it’s good to go in water thanks to a 100-meter water resistance rating.
