No one likes adding adapters to their devices—but in the case of ddHiFi’s TC28i, the inconveniences of traditional adapters are all but eliminated. Under one cubic centimeter in size, the TC28i’s footprint is more like a fingerprint Read More

I'm not sure I understand this connector, I've tried a bunch of usb-c based portable amps through a lightning to USB type A apple makes and a lot of them don't work without an additional power source? so how is this any different?
Hello,
I didn't buy it through Drop but through aliexpress.
From a purely functional point of view, it's okay, has an aesthetic look and everything is great.
For the money I actually expected them to build in a quality Usb C port. Unfortunately that is not the case.
Bought in January, received in February and already broken at the beginning of May after less than 10 uses.
It's not worth the money - better to buy a cheap lightnig to usb camera adapter.
DDhifi offered me to buy a new one for 15$ which is also an impertinence. I didn't take the deal.
Too bad the idea is good and suffers from the quality. In any case, it is not worth the price.
dwane5Certainly not, I can rule that out.
The socket is so thin that it bends up and no longer has a hold on the plug, and this should not happen after 5-8 times of use.
The socket is the problem.
If you were to make the cut-out in the socket a little smaller, the socket would no longer bend up so extremely that the plug no longer has a hold. This is a manufacturing error in the process.
Milling the recess 0.02-0.04 mm smaller would possibly remedy the problem.
Now since the dimensions without the actual ligthning connector are 1.85 × 0.95 × 1.35 cm can anyone here explain to me how it's "under one cubic centimeter in size" (actual product description quoted)?
If I use my limited knowledge of simple math and I multiply these numbers I come up with 2.37 cm^3 (or ccm) so I must be doing something wrong, aren't I ?
Because normally I would expect 2.37 cm^3 to be more than 1 cm^3.
theMillerDaveYour iPhone has a micro-distilling option, but you need to use the right Apple accessory (a mere $300) and a flask disk to store your iDrank. :D
dwane5What does, the SXFI Amp through this adapter? If so that's great to hear, and thanks for letting me know! Though I don't think that's the case.
From looking at a few posts online it seems what might be determining whether or not it works is the power draw allowed by the iPhone through each kind of cable (camera adapter vs regular cable). If this is the reason why some devices are compatible and others aren't maybe listing the max power draw allowed through the adapter would help make it easier for people to determine whether or not what they're thinking about plugging through it would work or not.
WilliamKillianMaybe it'll work if using Drop Panda with its USB DAC/amp unless the function is is intended to BOTH power the USB DAC/amp AND charge the headphone at the same time?
johnnys_massdropTakes the place of the Apple CCK when your only use case is to use the iPhone/iPad as an audio transport/streamer and you want to output to a (compatible) USB DAC.
